I had a recent game - my opponent was running Sammael in a landspeeder and a Talonmaster. The first they both advanced and he said they could both fire at full BS. Was this legal ?

If your opponent used the Speed of the Raven Stratagem (1 CP), then one of the units would have been able to Advance, shoot and charge in the same turn. If you were playing Matched Play, then he would have only been able to use the Stratagem for either Sammael or the Talonmaster, since they are both individual units and you can't repeat Stratagems on the same turn.

 

I don't know of anything that would have allowed him to fire heavy weapons and not incur the -1 to hit on his roll for heavy weapons moving though (don't Vehicles, even ones with Fly, still suffer from that rule?).

 

Did you happen to ask your opponent to show you the rules they were using from the Codex to do that, since you are unfamiliar with them? It's only sporting to let folks read that kind of stuff for themselves - I'd be interested to know if there was confusion on his part or some mechanism in the DA Codex I am forgetting to use.

I should have asked to see the rules. This confirms my suspicion he was cheating right at the start of the game.
