Jackal Bike —> Scout Bike conversions

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one who thinks that, with minor GS work, the new GSC Jackal bikes would make killer Astartes scout bikes? They’ve got ‘outrider’ down to a T, and overall look really awesome.

You’d probably need some scout heads, cover up all the ribbing, and do some minor armor work, but I think they’d look really good!

Anyone else have similar thoughts?

(Sorry if this is should be in the forge or similar, thought scout bikes and brain went ‘astartes forum’.)

Yea for sure, it was my first thought when they unveiled them. I’ve held off this long with my scout bikes due to the atrocious classic models. I’ll need to see some size comparisons before making a purchase though.

I think they'd look too small. Not just in actual size, but also stuff like armour plating, room for a pair of boltguns/astartes grenade launcher and wheel size. I haven't seen the models themselves, but Marine bikes are big compared to Genestealer Cultists, so I'd assume the opposite is also true..

i've been thinking of converting these as well.  i'm not too crazy about the existing bikers cause they're just too similar to a full astartes bike.  Plus i like the idea of converting that quad into an attack bike as well.

I was looking at the quad, and thought Techmarine with conversation beam on a bike personally....

How can that :cuss look so awesome, but they whiff so hard on inteceptors, aggressors, and the repulsor?

Edit: holy :cuss, they have sawn off shotguns, mac11s and a fricking grenade launcher!? That's awesome.

Seeing that four wheeler makes me think of that movie Surviving the Game with Ice T and Rutgar Haur(sp) in it.

Just stick some scouts on the top.

Also, the quad could be a land speeder storm in ground mode.

I'm willing to bed the quad is dwarfed by a Storm. Those things are big and the quad looks tiny. That's a 60mm base it's on, the same size as a Storm's flight stand base (which isn't even close to the length of the Storm).

Have they shown the back of the quad? I love the idea of putting a marine on the back with a pintle mounted weapon for a counts-as attack bike.

I also love the new GSC bikes and instantly thought 'scout bike converion'. I do want to see how they look with size comparisons.

I don't think all the talk of armor and beefing them up makes sense. When I think 'scout bike' I think super-moto or sumo motorcyles and these fit that bill perfectly. Maybe a larger adventure type bike like my V-strom but that's it. Normal space marine bikes remind me of heavy and bulky Harley's on steroids. I love the lighter frame that these bikes have and feel the really embody the spirit of what a scout bike should be.

There's a 360 turnable for the quad on the Webstore. Doesn't look like there's too much space for a Scout back there, but it could work.

I do agree though, these bikes look like they'd be perfect for making Scout Bikes.

Compared to astartes scouts, the shotguns of the jackals are rather small. Also, scouts have more voluminous and armoured torsos.

So, yes, with some converison work (e.g. adding shoulder armour and enlarging the torso a bit) and weapons from a scout kit, they could pass off as scout bikers.

Only problem I see is: Where would you mount the bikes bolters?
