Lord Commander Eidolon
I've had the Work in Progress thread running for a number of years, it's time to start showing off some completions for my nominally loyalist Emperor's Children. I've long held a fondness for the III legion since the old days of Rogue Trader. The original Index Astartes articles in the early 2000's prompted me to get back in to 40k after dabbling in fantasy battle. I was struck by the tragic nature of their fall and the fleshing out of background as opposed to just being Noise Marines. The chance to build an army of the Emperors Children in their loyalist heyday proved too much temptation - and I've gone for the old skool Heresy Art look. I did debate the colour for a long time, I settled on the 'magenta' shade as homage to the classic heresy card game art and the Index Astartes article. The first unit for this thread is my Veterans - these must be the most stylish and blinged up Marines going! I have used the sternguard kit as the basis of the squad, mainly legs and the aquila torso. Bits sites and scrounging meant it took a year or so to actually finish the squad! I've used the classic anvilus backpack and other chaos bits to harken back (or rather forward) to there eventual fate.... I will give them the honorific 'Evocatus' - a term for veteran in the Roman legions. ++Name the Legion++ a few fraters have, over the years sought to enlist the help of the community in naming their marines. I know most of them die inglorious deaths, but I've put a lot of heart and soul into building them, so they deserve names! I will start off with the Veterans, but I have 2 tactical squads, support squad, jet bikes and speeders awaiting photographs and then names..... So drop me a PM and I'll name them! I feel a Roman/Byzantine theme would be appropriate for the Emperor's Children, however anything from 'Old Europa' would also be befitting! ++Veteran Tactical Squad - Fulgerion++ Veteran Sgt Tiberius Fulgerion http://i64.tinypic.com/2cicpy0.jpg Wanted to include this guy a fine cast veteran as the detailing really says pre Heresy EC! Blinged up with eagles!! Slight conversion with a new powerfist and shoulder pads, I like using older classic models to help with the historical feel.... Standard Bearer --- Signifer (TBC) http://i64.tinypic.com/166krpt.jpg The flashiest smoothest bad boys in M.31 need to anounce their presence for all to see! Missile Launcher Specialist --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i64.tinypic.com/2lshena.jpg Always been a fan of the Old Skool missile launcher! Marines Emperors Children had a traditional of using the blades of vanquished enemies in honour of a worthy foe! --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i66.tinypic.com/2e3vds6.jpg I originally built the first veterans when they had the furious charge skill. Now they can be weapon masters. This one is just a standard imperial power sword! --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i67.tinypic.com/swzp11.jpg I thought I'd use a Necron blade here, to represent some form of exotic Xenos weapon take during some compliance campaign.... --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i65.tinypic.com/dqop3a.jpg The Eldar may have taken his arm... but the foul Xenos was vanquished and the blade taken as a prize ...... Also trying to keep the retro feel --- Plasma Specialist Evocatus (TBC) http://i65.tinypic.com/5btp4j.jpg --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i63.tinypic.com/282pdp0.jpg A cheeky volkite serpenta, because they can.... ( the plasma glow has been since finished off!) --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i67.tinypic.com/308xxn6.jpg Combi weapon, because you never know.... --- Evocatus (TBC) http://i67.tinypic.com/2nrkggn.jpg Used the Chaos bolt pistols because I think they look cool http://i67.tinypic.com/vx2fif.jpg A different shot of the same mini - just because these are some of the few decent pics I've got of these guys!! Pearson73
Love this squad, the use of Eidolon's helm(?) is great and the vibrant pink really makes them stand out. Dosjetka
Those are Phalanx Warden heads. :tu: It's a bit too "shocking" pink for my tastes but it does look good and they stand out on the table so that's always a valuable bonus. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353504-children-of-the-emperor-the-pursuit-of-perfection/#findComment-5245430 Share on other sites

Rogue
That is a cracking pink, and contrasts nicely with the white cloth. Pearson73
Some really nice basing on these chaps, the hellenic ruins suit the IIIrd well. FunkyBoy
Some beautiful models here, I’ve always had a thing for pre-Heresy EC, planned at some point to make my own little band of them with all the custom bits to sit along side my Sons of Horus. I also have to agree, the old school rocket launchers and in my opinion Devastator weapons look so cool! Keep up the epic work! Lord Commander Eidolon
Chaplain Charmosian was the Chaplain of the 18th Company, and one of the most senior members of the Legion. He acted as a member of Fulgrim's honour guard during the later stages of corruption leading up to Istvaan III. You might have seen Lil Legends awesome blog, but you've not seen him like this.... http://i68.tinypic.com/2iaszkz.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/2wqewih.jpg http://i63.tinypic.com/34xgd8o.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/16c2r2t.jpg I was tempted to have a bash at this one myself, but having seen Myles' Erebus, well, I couldn't not commission him, as well I really loved this model. And a more familiar pose http://i64.tinypic.com/34dr68n.jpg I added this cheeky little head, as I figured it showed him as the rot began to take hold of the IIIrd. I was going to use a 'Sean Connery' head, but then this one popped up and thought it looked epic!!
