Death watch + Grey knight list 1500

Hi all,

 

So I was looking into good match for a second detachment that will either improve what grey knights are good at or compensate for their weaknesses.

After a while if I sum it up greyknights weaknesses are (for me at least):

- Low model count (so every loss hurt and beside Draigo and GMNDK + sanctuary we do not have reliable way to protect our models efficiently enough)

- Any model that is not deep striking or going for assault fells like a loss of potential (with the bolter rule changed it is tempting to leave our strike squads sitting on objectives but I still think that other units do it better for less point).

- lack of reliable backup fire power (to clean off screens during first turn and allow us to charge what really matters the second turn).

- Also now with the new deep strike rules it is pretty much non-efficient to play only greyknight codex and it feel more and more that we are designed to be some addon to other codexes rather than an efficient standalone codex.

 

I saw that it is quite popular to use blood angels as allies with scoots for objective keeper and CP with Mephiston and

The thing with that combo is that I don't see the real interest of it.

Sure, the storm shield slam captain with jetpack overloaded with amphet is a big threat and need to be dealt with but he is quite redundant to what we already have and Mephiston use the sanguinary discipline and that does work only on blood angels.

 

So with the new bolter changes I was thinking of using Death watch for the following reasons:

1) really cost effective and adaptive fire power (special ammunitions)

2) access to Librarians with librarius discipline

 

Having a mobile librarian is very usefull to support our troops and to use smite efficiently but the best is that the Librarius discipline is one of the few

discipline that is non-specific to it's codex, so we can use it on our grey knights as well.

2 powers work in perfect synergy with us.

Might of heroes gives +1 to Str, T and attacks to an adeptus astartes so we can use it on both Draigo and GMNDK

On Draigo the +1 str is particularly useful because he can now with hammerhand wound any titan-like on 2+

The second one is hard to pull but can change the tide of the battle: Null zone.

As the librarian is mobile and not fighting he can advance every turn, so he shouldn't have any problem to be in range turn 2 to provide Null zone where Draigo and GMNDK are landing. We have an incredible offensive power but that can be easily countered by high invu saves.

This power allow us to land an almost sure kill on any primary target (if any of the 2 GMDK or draigo is passing the charge).

 

So here is the list 1500 pts:

Death watch detachment:

1 Primaris watch captain (crafted stalker bolter, power fist)

1 Librarian jumpack force stave

10 Vet with6 storm bolter and 4 heavy bolter (to use the sweet sweet stratagem)

10 Vet with storm bolter

7 intercessor with stalker bolter

 

Grey knights: (all on deep strike)

Draigo

GMDK (gatling psilencer + psycannon + hammer) first to the frey

GMDK (gatling psilencer + psycannon + hammer)

 

This is 1400 pts roughly, what would you take for the last 100 pts?
