@Fr33Dom- thanks for looking mate, yeah all the new stuff from Vigilus is very cool (i borrowed the book from a mate and now i don't want to give it back :laugh.: )

I love thunderhawk blue as a colour so this was the perfect excuse to paint something up with it, although i gotta say i'm glad the white is limited to the Helmet, arms and backpack

things that can easily be painted separately from the main body!

Cheers, Mithril

undercoat was corax white spray

first layer of "White"was celestra grey then i carefully washed recesses with nuln oil or agrax, then tidied up with 2 thin coats of Ulthuan grey, i'm yet to highlight with pure white, i left some tiny areas celestra for shading purposes and quickness/efficiency :blush.:  i'm thinking of using Lahmain medium with the Ulthuan so it's not as much a chalky white...either that or i weather it to

look war torn and dirty to hide that effect

cheers, Mithril

Marine Number 2 is up on the block now...since hes a push fit i did the head first before gluing him together  hard to paint it stuck in the armor

(apologies for showing a boring start to the model :blush.: ,come back in a few days for a better pic :biggrin.: )

Mithril I love your Necropolis Hawks. I wish I'd had the guts to do them myself but afraid I just couldn't do it justice. At least with the Warhawks I'm just competing against myself :blush.:   I have a query though. What made you decide to go with that pigmentation as opposed to the usual pasty appearance of the Raven Guard?

I ask because I'm sure at some point (probably Shadowspear Reivers) I'll be forced to make a similar decision and not sure what I'll decide to do there. On one hand, I think a dark pigmentation would look better with my models, and on the other want to go ghostly to really sink in the Hawks are a RG successor

Thanks for the looks guys,

@ duz- yeah I might just be my ulthuan pot, my mate doesn’t get the effect I do, maybe a new pot is due .

@ Inq Dracos- thanks for the positive comments !, as to the skin tone... I’m more for rule of cool than fluff nazi so I didn’t even think of

Super pale ravenguard geneseed skin colour lol, I have done it on a couple of my raptors but this scheme is so nice I wanted the skin to pop brightly, that’s the only reason for the skin tone. Hope to post more on Monday.

Have a great weekend guys!

Cheers, Mithril

Oh no what happened to his arms?? Primarisification process defect?

in the Background you can see them on paint pot tops...isn't that how Primaris Marines are made on Mars :huh.:  Didn't you get the Data Slate Memo about it from Cawl ?!?... :ermm:

His arms and backpack are White...I will always paint them separately from the torso...i don't need to accidentally brush stroke blue or black onto them,i'm slow enough as it is...having to re coat white is not on my list of efficient things to speed up my painting  ...

cheers, Mithril

  • 2 weeks later...

thanks for looking guys,

yeah the dread is on the back burner...when i finish the killteam (which will eventually be a squad for an army  ) i'll do the dread proper  at the moment he gets a thin coat of thunderhawk blue on his armor whenever i have some paint left over on the palette :tongue.:  ..

Cheers Mithril
