Age of Darkness FAQ

One thing that I've found sometimes helps to get the right FAQ documents to show on their FAQ page: change the sorting options from the default.

I usually go (default) > Sort By: A-Z > Sort By: Recently Updated - that's usually enough to get the latest documents to pop up.

Are those new Phalanx Warder and Medusan Immortal rules?

Yup :) been a while since I looked at the Immortals rules but didn't they have to make snap shots before? No mention of snap shots now seems to be made at full BS - shoot them in the back with meltaguns and volkites! Hehe

Some very nice changes in here, while by no means comprehensive here are a few cool ones:

  • Herald Grants Fearless and Implacable Advance, can now take TDA!
  • Moritat no longer overheats on a 1&2 with plasma. You now roll 6 shots with each pistol, however guns with "Gets hot!" must be rolled individually and the shots for that weapon end when a 1 is rolled. PLASMA IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
  • Destroyers have a cheaper cost for Jump Packs and other upgrades. Also have Hardened armour (not sure if thats new!)
  • Lots of changes to Previan Automata and legion specific buffs
  • Quad Launcher template attacks seemingly only one shot each now (unless Barrage grants more?) but all are LARGE Blast
  • Palatine Blades are cheaper with Artificer armour an option, power weapons only 2pts now
  • Ashen Circle get +1S AP3 melee weapons that grant +1I, also a S5 Flaming HoW attack
  • Medusan Immortals "Gun Them Down!" now at FULL BS, cannot use blast weapons however.
  • Magnus The Red Mind Wrath optional for +175 pts. Now 495pts base.
  • Domitar can shoot Grav Flamers from their fists!!!!!!!!!!

+1A on destroyers too!

Wondered if that was new or not, awesome!

Malcadors seem the weirdest change - becoming just (TANK) instead of (Super-Heavy Tank) makes their weapons a lot worse (unless going all Lascannons)

Im assuming its because they wanted to remove the Thunderblitz option, amongst other things, from the tank that comes naturally with the (Super-Heavy Tank) type.

Apparently they were being used as suicide units by driving them into enemy lines and waiting for the titanic explosion. This change was to prevent that

Question for you guys: The Immortals still have the option to switch their Boltgun for a combat blade, however the breacher shields prohibit them from gaining another attack from things like combat blades. Is this addressed somewhere in the faq that I can't find or is this just a weird mistake still?

Since they have a bolt pistol, then, no, they actually wouldnt benefit from being given a combat blade unless theres a specific upgrade option that can only be access if the model has one.

That sounds like a viable ork tactic...no wonder why the play testers Emperor of Mankind decreed against that.

I was hoping the faq would clear up this weird little rule of theirs! It just makes them less effective, so strange. Thanks!
