Axineton
So I got a couple of Harlequin vehicles that need a few bits removing but they've been glued and I'm not sure if it'll be possible to remove the bits I want removing. Any tips will be most appreciated. The stems on both my Skyweavers have been snapped off at the top where the model rests. And on the Starweaver I'd like to be able to take the half windscreen off and actually be able to get to the pilot before putting the full windscreen bit back on instead of this half one. Grotsmasha
If super glue was used, freezing the model will make the glue brittle, enabling you to pry the pieces apart. For the flight stem, drilling it out is probably the only realistic solution :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353949-any-tips-on-removing-glued-bits-without-breaking-stuff/#findComment-5258961 Share on other sites
NiceGuyAdi
Isopropyl alcohol will also weaken superglue to the point you can pull it apart with your fingers. If it’s plastic glue though, it’s effectively melted together, and you’re gonna have to do it with a hobby knife and a lot of patience. Axineton
Yeah I thought about drilling out the two with the stems but the window is the one I’m more concerned about. Cheers guys for the suggestions. Syward
Another suggestion if you use superglue is oven cleaner, it'll break down the superglue and the pieces will come apart clean as if they were never glued. The only problem is that requires a soak (24+ hours - the longer the better) , so unless you're trying to un-glue the whole model, it may not work for what you need (also, not sure what it'd do to the clear plastic). Axineton
I’m not sure how that window has been glued in there. I’ll give it a try once I get around to these minis. Cheers mate.
