Wassa
Is it me, or are the statistics of the Ogryn Bodyguard pretty much useless? They wait until a character has lost a wound, meaning the attack is rolled against a squishie T3 and 5+ save, and then the ogryn decides to try and roll to take the shot? This means the T5 and any Bullgryn Plate/Slabshield giving it a 2+ save is completely ignored? I don't get why the rule isn't the same as Ork Grots, where they take the hit immediately. Harrowmaster
I agree, the only time armour and shield come into it is when he's shot directly. All the older dexes (SM, CSM, IG) have the *roll dice and take mortal wounds* mechanic over take the hit. Gothical
I like the option to have armour as I use him less for tanking hits - though I do make use of that rule occasionally - but rather a counter-melee beatstick that is hard to shoot down because he has the Character rule himself. Whether I take the 2+ Save, the 4+/4++ varies depending on my mood, haven't really found much of a difference between them. I think I prefer the Brute Shield because a 4++ on a 6-wound T5 model is quite potent, but a 2+ Save can stop quite a few of the less specialised melee units in their tracks.
