Beatnik cryptek
Birthday coming up. May get some necron evilness for it. Options: Destroyers. Could get 6. Could use as 2 3 man squads for 2 HD's or 1 6 man squad to make it harder to kill off. Good heavy firepower and mobility , but a small unit that is a bomb magnet. Need to have a cryptek tag along to give 5++ save and boost to RP. Doomsday arks. Could get 2. Doomsday cannon is a S10 ap 5 d6 dam "XXXX YOU!!! " to hard targets, gauss flayer arrays good against hordes. Could only get 2 tho... Stalker. Gives other units a reroll of 1's on shooting after it fires whether it hits or not. Twin heavy gauss cannon is a double barreled "XXXX YOU!!! " to hard targets. One or two models at most tho, and a target priority.... Maybe one stalker and one DDA? Could use CP to boost both units Quantum armor.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354063-necron-heavy-firepower-options/ Share on other sites
NTaW
Destroyers: Run them in a unit of 6 for best effect, Cryptek is nice but not necessary. I converted two Heavies but almost never play them since they don't pull their weight when I do. Maybe if I made a third one I'd play a full unit but attached to my Destroyer squads (3/1 split) or in a unit of two just hasn't been cutting it for me. Doomsday Ark: Two is better than one, three is overkill unless you face Knights all the time or really want to fill a Spearhead Detachment. Stalker: I play mine because I think it's a cool model, in game it either buffs my Warriors or is the focus of my enemy's attacks. Both of which are satisfactory but nothing stellar ever comes of the model. I play a Stalker and DDA together in my lists because I have those models, it isn't a bad choice but two of either I think would be more competitive overall. I don't play in tournaments but most the people I game with do and I can keep pace with most their lists provided they don't go full competitive on me. Halfpint100
I use 6 destroyers and a DDA. Both solid units that pull their weight through dakka or taking shots. I play Sautek. So the DDA has become a mobile gunship with its 20 gauss shots if need be. Which is surprisingly effective Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354063-necron-heavy-firepower-options/#findComment-5264030 Share on other sites
NTaW
ooOOooooo if you want to spice in some talk about Codes for these units: Mephrit (Extermination Protocols + Talent For Annihilation) or Nephrekh (Translocation Crypt for safekeeping T1) Destroyers and Nihilakh DDAs (re-roll 1s when immobile is very useful). I'll straight play my DDA in an Auxiliary Detachment just for the Code (same for my Doom Scythe, though that gets Sautekh).
