anarchistscourge
So with the new Assassin Index coming out and any imperium army able to select any assassin to add to their force for 1CP, how do we think GSC are going to deal with the new threat? Specifically I'm worried about Vindicare's sniping all our lovely characters (especially with the 1CP strat that lets them shoot twice), and the Eversor mulching pretty much the whole army with his 6 attacks hitting on 2's wounding on 3's rerolling at AP -1 (they get an extra attack per model kill which dont chain). What are the most likely counters? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354162-how-to-deal-with-assassins/ Share on other sites
Exilyth
Assassins are characters, so the most obvious answer is Jackal Alphus & Sanctus (& maybe Kelermorph). The Locus can protect other characters with that "look out sir"-like ability. Alternatively, throwing a Patriarch + Genestealers or Abomintant + Aberrants at an assassin could result in overkill but should net a dead assassin. Mortar HWTs could deal with an assassin in cover/terrain (if that is the closest unit). Throwing some chaff like a 20 strong squad of neophytes/brood brothers could tie up an assassin. Assassins require LOS for their ranged attacks which can be denied using terrain or cult ambush (can't assassinate what isn't there yet). The problem with assassins won't be disabling or slowing them, the problem will be dealing with them in a point efficient manner. Ficinus
While Vindicare assassins will be able to take out squishy GSC characters, of which there are many, the cults also have bodyguard rules on every single model, so keep characters near neophyte squads so they can jump in front of that bullet. Use a reroll if you have to. Also, there's the locus, as someone pointed out. Link2edition
I am not worried about it at all.Plus in a maelstrom game one of our tactical objectives is to have a cultist jump out and take a bullet. So assassins will help us with that one.Tiny fringe benefit I know =P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354162-how-to-deal-with-assassins/#findComment-5264784 Share on other sites
WickedJester1013
Abush the Assassians back! We are not short of our own assasians and a squad ambushing next to him will make him worry quick! FYI ambushing the assassians is even in the lore! https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/11/26/to-kill-a-dark-kinggw-homepage-post-3/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354162-how-to-deal-with-assassins/#findComment-5264904 Share on other sites
