Tips against GSC.

Tomorrow I am having a casual game vs GSC. I have never seen them on a table before. I know that they  are kind of a glass cannon army. with lots of charge heavy hitting units, with low to average toughness. Their characters can have interesting psychic powers which hurt a lot. But what is our combined thoughts about meeting them?

I have faced them with Knights, that was painful. Tried to castle up, but they were just on me turn 2 and swamped me with bodies. I think lots of speed bump units are in order.

There isn't much for your heavy combat hitters to get stuck into as all their units are pretty squishy, but some stuff will hit hard in combat. So I'm thinking bloodclaws will do well against them, just to clear out bodies.

They are indeed a glass cannon. The best units to take with you are :

1. Runepriest because he can provide psychic defence, he is good against hordes with the furry of the wolf spirits power, he provides minuses to hit, he can buff a nearby unit with chooser of the slain (preferably a stormfang which has a lot of fire power and good line of sight) to counter a key unit's cult ambush in its movement phase :smile.:

2. Troops put in twin assaultcannon/storm bolter razorbacks because vehicles die harder from weight of low/mid strenght attacks and also provide good anti horde fire power

3. Stormfang gunship with twin heavy bolters because it can unload lots of firepower, it can only be charged by units with fly, works great with chooser of the slain, can get -2 to hit from a nearby runepriest, can still carry 6 troops.

4. Armour of Russ to make a key unit fight last.

5. Dakka redemptor (gatling cannons/ stormbolters)

6. Outflanking aggressors

7. Dreadnougt with twin las/ missile launcher because with chapter approved became cheap antitank that has high toughness and doesnt degrade

 Cheers !!!

GSC trick #1 is popping up out of nowhere and short range charging

A RP using chooser of the slain is a SW counter. If you run a leviathan you can cripple basically anything coming in

GSC trick #2 are psychic powers

RP (ideally njal) are the best counter to it. The other is make sure you are touching you deadliest shooting unit. I believe GSC can make something turn traitor for a turn using a leadership roll. If you are touching your unit (lets say a knight castellan as an example) it cant fire into you and cripple you. It has to stomp whatever is touching it then you regain control. Crisis contained...

*edit

GSC is a master level test in how well you screen and position your forces
