Lord_Ikka
Early last year I bough a Knight Crusader kit and an Atropos from FW. I recently managed to snag 4 Knight Armiger Warglaives from an eBay buy, and I have 2 Helverin weapons sprues from a previous trade. Thus, I now have a fairly decent sized little Knight army and require some advice from my B&C brethren. Currently (once my Armigers are shipped to me and built) my Knight armory looks like this: Cerastus Knight Atropos Questoris Knight Crusader (magnetized but can only use a Thermal Cannon not a RFBC) 2x Armiger Warglaive 2x Armiger Helverin (magnetized to be either Warglaive or Helverin) I believe I have right around 1750 points with my Knight stuff, and have DA available for filler if I get into bigger battles, but I need some help on Knight army options. I'm looking over the codex and I think that either House Taranis or House Krast as far as Houses go. I like Taranis' 6+ Feel No Pain-ish ability, and the re-rolls that Krast gets for TITANIC units (my main opponent also can field a few Knights and super-heavies). My first question is this- what should be the Warlord Ability/Heirloom that I put on my Crusader? I was thinking of going Taranis with Ion Bulwark and Endless Fury for an all-round fighter, or Krast with First Knight and the Headsman's Mark (thermal cannon) for a Knight-killer. Are there other options I'm missing? Second question would be whether to keep my Armigers all Warglaives or split into Warglaives/Helverins? What are your thoughts on the different Armiger loadouts? Last question- what would you recommend I get next as far as Knights go? Another basic Questoris chassis, a Dominus variant, or another Cerastus? Maybe even a Styrix or another couple of Armigers? I honestly have no real clue where to go from here and would like a little help on figuring out some available options. Thanks for any advice/thoughts, I love this forum! hermanista
As you may/may not have seen in my thread, I'm a strong proponent of Krast,A crusader with RFBC/First Knight/Headsman's Mark has done countless damage for me against enemy knights and big things consistently since I moved on from Raven and Vulker.}With that list, you could look at two detachments which is something I've started doing.SHD VulkerAtrapos Warlord with 2+ and the Vulker Trait that wounds no less that 4's2x HelverinSHD KrastCrusader with RFBC/FK/HM 2x WarglaiveAnd then tweak from there, some kind of screen battalion is you wantedAs for where next, it really depends, it's hard to argue with the competitiveness of the Castellan and Gallant at the end of the day Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354297-need-some-advice-on-knights/#findComment-5268766 Share on other sites
Lord_Ikka
Thanks. I should probably have mentioned that my Crusader can only take the Thermal cannon, didn't make the weapon interchangeable with the RFBC. I do like the idea of the twin detachments, that is a great idea that never occurred to me. hermanista
With a model razor saw, that arm will come right off!Theres a gap between the shoulder piece and the 'elbow' piece that is easy to cut straight through. It's how my Styrix/Maegera became a Thermal Crusader and a RFBC Crusader Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354297-need-some-advice-on-knights/#findComment-5268778 Share on other sites
Lord_Ikka
Oh no, the arm is magnetized, but the weapon is built as a pure Thermal Cannon. I can probably bits buy another arm to put a RFBC on it though. I always thought the TC was better than the RFBC, maybe that was just me. Stray
If you're facing other Superheavies, the Styrix is actually quite excellent. If you run it Krast, give it the warlord trait and Headsmans Mark, it's main weapon only falls roughly ONE average wound short of the Castellans Volcano Cannon vs other Knights. When you think about the points difference, and the fact that the Styrix comes with built in save relics (effectively), it's not at all a bad investment. Technically the Stryix comes with a built in trait (ion bulwark) and two relics, though one is a bit weaker, those being Sanctuary and Mark of the Omnimassih(lesser). Also be aware that to give the FW knights traits/relics they have to be the warlord since they are neither Questoris or Dominus class and can't be targeted by the Heirloom or Household strats Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354297-need-some-advice-on-knights/#findComment-5268984 Share on other sites

Boo! *facepaws* Yeah, it was the Cerstus pattern that can't get the strat trait/relic, oh and the Porphyton.
