anarchistscourge
So i've just preordered the Ambot just because they look amazing. They have a very miner / GSC feel and I would love to use them in the army, either built as is and used for counts as or kitbash into something completely different. They could probably be used to make an abominant in a Bladed Cog detachment, but i already have one and dont want double Has any one got any suggestions on what could be done with these? apologist
Could you use it as an Ambull? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5269753 Share on other sites
anarchistscourge
I have the actual Ambull for that :P Im wondering how difficult it would be to turn it into something completely different like an Achilles Ridgerunner Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5269779 Share on other sites
Spiky Norman
Is it too small to work as a Sentinel perhaps? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5270460 Share on other sites
Ficinus
You could maybe use it as an Abominant? It is big and tough and strong. Alternatively, a secondary Patriarch could work, except for the psychic part. (especially since, fluff wise, there should only be one patriarch per cult). anarchistscourge
Could do them as patriarch twins, the genestealers kissed humans at exact same time basically. Due to the gestalt nature of the hive mind there stronger together than a normal patriarch but the power is split between the 2. For bladed cog that’s why they were the “suits”. Still unsure on this. Won’t really be able to tell what I could make until I have them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5270520 Share on other sites
anarchistscourge
Is it too small to work as a Sentinel perhaps? I was thinking I could do that and it would save me money for when I want to run my brigade (only have 1 sentinel at the moment) The sentinels are on 60mm bases while the ambot are on 40mm. But I’m sure I have enough bit that I could bulk them out Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5270524 Share on other sites
anarchistscourge
So I’m pretty set on using the ambots as sentinels. Thinking of dropping them to all fours and shoulder mounting the guns. Can any one suggest other bits that have got a GSC miner feel? Thinking’s legs from ork killa kans and the like Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5273382 Share on other sites

anarchistscourge
I opened them up last night. There actually quite a lot smaller than I was expecting, but still going to run them as sentiels Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5275129 Share on other sites
Spiky Norman
I opened them up last night. There actually quite a lot smaller than I was expecting, but still going to run them as sentiels Please put some size comparison pictures if you get the chance. I like the models, but would like to see some better pictures that show their actual size compared to say Ogryns, Sentinels an Abominant or some such. anarchistscourge
So they are about half the height of a sentinel, bit bigger than an abominant. I’ve glued sub assemblies as I still don’t know what If I’m building them standing up or dropping them to all 4s. I’ll blue tac them and take some pictures for you though. Something to note is you actually get 2 different pairs of legs so once you’ve built 2 you will have 2 pairs left over. anarchistscourge
I opened them up last night. I like the models, but would like to see some better pictures that show their actual size compared to say Ogryns, Sentinels an Abominant or some such. Sorry it took a while. From left to right: Abominant, Bullgryn / Ogryn, Ambot 1 (on 60mm GW base), Ambot 2 (on 60mm non GW base, set on a riser), Sentinel. As you can see there quite a lot bigger than an Abominant, slightly bulkier than an ogryn, but significantly smaller than a Sentinel. Even when i've stuck it on a riser to give it height it will still be smaller than the sentinel. I will be using GW's bases though so be maybe 5mm taller than Ambot 2 on the thinner base Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5278241 Share on other sites

I still really like the Ambot model, but I can see that its size makes it hard to proxy for anything in a GSC army. Also I really thought the abominant was bigger too :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5278460 Share on other sites
anarchistscourge
Same here I bought it a few weeks back and realised it was small. Didn’t realise how small until it was next to everything else. The only other thing I could think it would work as is an Atalan jackal wolf quad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354325-the-ambot-very-gcs-feel/#findComment-5278495 Share on other sites
