McElMcNinja
After my recent tournament and losing to castellan knights, I've been trying to come up with ways to take them out. I'm trying to stick with a mono-Death Guard army that can deal with them, which I know is more difficult than a good soup army. After my bouts this weekend I asked for advice and they most said I should have kept my crawlers back and used entropy cannons. Then it was suggested I use Predators with Killshot, but having not used that yet I was with wondering if anyone had experience with them and could share their thoughts. I see where they could be good if armed properly, but I do like mortar on the crawler. I like being able to shoot things I can't see, but maybe the trade off is worth it. Help? Panzer
Killshot predators are not very reliable when you face something like Knights. They can soak up a lot of the damage with their improved invul and if they go first they just have to delete one Predator and you've wasted a lot of points on tanks for a Stratagem you never get to use. I remember that at first every competetive Marine player jumped on Killshot and it was basically the go-to for anti-tank in Marine lists but I haven't seen anybody use it in quite some time so there's probably a reason for it. Prot
I wouldn't go that direction personally. The Castellan is just too prevalent. At least the Crawlers are T8, and can hide while still having -some- effectiveness. I think it's an okay idea, but no better than using Leviathans for example... it's all subject to who goes first and what you have left. You always have Mort as well. He cannot be ignored. So you could look at it big picture style as well. That is to say 3 Predators aren't great, but if Mort is in the picture that changes everything to a Knight player. Even a non-Castellan Tournie list will feature enough to wipe Mort, or the Predators but both is getting to be a lot to ask for. With the way these games have been going I literally started duplicating what I think I need to do the most killing power, and expecting one half of the 'plan' to be dead on T1. So Mort and Preds is a good one. The Preds have a great advantage over the Crawlers vs. Armour. Also I've always been a massive fan of rhino born Foul Blightspawn and Biologus Putrifiers. I have taken on Tau tournie lists with this idea and granted people weren't a 100% aware, but the tactic can be devastating if left unchecked. (This is how I used Mort as my red herring.) Kilofix
Just surround him in melee with a full squad of Beasts of Nurgle or Plague Drones (not Foetids). It will take him forever to kill them all.
