Dear bros!

 

My question is simple - how to equip Grey Slayers?

 

In Inferno GS are equipped by bolt pistol, chainsword / close combat weapon. As an option, each GS may take one of the following:

- boltgun

- combat shield

- power weapon

 

It OR not OR/AND. My understanding is that they cannot be equipped by combat shield and power weapon. It is funny that on FW website it is possible to see models of GS equipped by power weapon and combat shield but it is not possible when it comes to rules. 

 

If I understand to rules correctly no chance to built a unit equipped by power weapons and combat shields. Am I right?

Yes, ruleswise its one option from those three listed.

 

With regards the axes, the ones that come in the Grey Slayer kit with the shields are not power axes, they are hand axes without any power source. Compare with the Deathsworn for a difference in size and powered gubbins at the back of the blade.

 

I think only the Huscarl has option to take both a shield and a power weapon.

 

I've got 2 squads of 20 (only 5 shields amongst them) and building another with more shields in this time as they are quite useful in combat.  I take 12/13 power axes, swords and fists and then some just with bolters to take wounds as they run across the board. Rarely shoot with them, just the way i modeled them. As long as there are some left when they get there they tend to mince anything they hit.
