Future Directions (theory-crafting future release 40K)

I think Armageddon will be a new campaign pretty soon, maybe just after Vigilus maybe a few more years down the line. Armageddon would be a great setting to update/ bring us:

Angron & some of his boys (don't know if fluff has mentioned stuff that doesn't have models yet) or they can just make up something new.

New Imperial Guard "core line" - Cadians are getting up there in years and a new line would be pretty sweet no doubt. I think the tanks are fine, so just like a normal guardsmen kit that can be blinged out a bit to become veterans, heavy weapons squads & command squads.

Ghaz & some of his boyz - I play speed freeks so I love the new Ork models but they have a bit of a HQ problem and new boyz would be greatly appreciated. Also tankbustas/kommandos. Oh and release the black reach deffkoptas, no one wants the ones you're currently selling GW :P

A massive Ghaz waaagh is told to be coming in the deathwatch codex and in the Ork codex Ghaz is confirmed to exist in several places at once, a precursor to becoming a Prime-Ork, so whenever GW actually wants to pick up those story threads he needs a destination. Armageddon feels logical, he has history there, as does Angron.

So you have two "big bads" that actually should show up logically speaking. Filling in space marines to help out and tie some new release for primaris seems easy. And IG has always played a big part on Armageddon. Tie in some space elfs who are there to try and stop Angron from being summoned back or whatever and you basically have all major players there again. Poor Tau and Necrons might be left out again though, not sure how easily they'd be tied in, or Tyranids I guess.

Side note: If a Prime Ghaz comes back to Armageddon I hope they hype up some sort of rematch between him and Yarrick. Like Yarrick has laid down some trap to kill him, and either Ghaz outsmarts him or he's just too powerful now and proceeds to curbstomp Yarrick (actually killing him that is). That rivalry was cute back in the day but Ghaz really needs a much higher tier rival at this point. Maybe Vulkan if he ever comes back since he fought the Beast?

Even though I'm a die hard Guard player, Old Man Yarrick finally dieing to Ghaz (Prime or not) could be pretty damn epic as a development.

Though it would be nice to get some new character for the Guard in that case...we already lost Creed and Kell in recent fluff, starting to be a bit thin on the ground here. ^^

I would definitely love a match between Ghaz and Yarrick - even though Yarrick should get splatted, it would be a fitting death for him...

Unfortunately, he's already an old man in 999M41. By 100/200M42... well he should be dead :/

Kill Yarrick off via Ghaz on Armageddon,  then have him resurrected by the power of the church to have a 2nd Saint... removing him from the Guard 'dex and putting him in the 'Sisters' dex along with the cheepest of cheep milita converts / pilgrims / crazed imperial cults

:teehee: :teehee:

Edit - a Yanarri dex with a few new units... or units that are an amalgamation of units from both craftworld & dark kin.

... re-vamp of the aspects from finecast to plastic (finally!) either way it goes

Yeah, some new IG characters are needed. Armageddon would be a great place to give us a few, alongside a revamped/totally new guard regiment.

I just find it sort of poetic if Yarricks trap fails because he thought Ghaz would still be the same old Ghaz. Yarrick was always smarter but I'm not sure how many people in the entire Imperium remembers exactly what a prime-ork is so him not knowing how much smarter Ghaz would've become is an easy mistake to make. It would be a natural escalation of the Armageddon plotline that's been in the making for I don't even know how long.

I expect that to happen with Fulgrim and Angron leading their sons. I do expect Russ to come back since in the fluff for some time now the Space Wolves have been hit hard. G-man can't handle 4 demon primarchs plus Abby by himself. I expect Russ to come back and we'll see CC specialist Primaris at the same time to fit in with the SW motif of melee masters.

Well that rumor of GW wanting the 40k universe to revolve around Guilliman is proving more and more true. I do not think we will see any loyalist primarch for at least another year or 2.

I do agree Angron and Fulgrim will come back. I suspect Fulgrim before Angron. Along with Ghaz at some point. Tyranids and IG I do not think will get a Primarch level model. Eldar I have no idea what to expect.

Nids are making something on tiamet. I think it's all of the below rolled into one, a local sever cluster for the hive mind ( better reaction time for the nids) that calms the warp for them , a permanent presence in the Galaxy and, I think it's going to be a world size factory to produce a few nid super organisms, aspects of the hive mind. ( Primarch tier lovecraftian nightmares).

Russ or dorn i expect to see in the next 2 years. Russ ushering in can squads. Dorn ushers in primaris terminators

Yarrick was an old man a hundred years before the current timeline. Even with rejuvenant treatments (which he was already undertaking during the third war) he’d be hard pressed to make it a hundred years after the 3rd War. I can see why GW would keep him alive but realistically he should’ve died decades ago.

That's a really good idea. Have yarick get ganked, then he becomes a saint and gonna back and we have a new super ig leader

Its not really their fault but the studio got put in a weird position by taking Ghazghkull off Armageddon prior to the rift opening. You can see why they did it, they didn’t wanna shoehorn him into being stuck at Armageddon, but now he’s not where he needs to be post-rift. Armageddon would’ve been a great opportunity to reveal a Primork Ghaz vs a Daemon Angron

They can keep Yarrick alive by having him affected by Great Rift induced time dilation.

Theres also the thing, that yarrick might still be alive because Orks think he is.

medic.... "how the <deleted> are you still alive?"

Yarrick ..." the orks will not let me die until Ghazkill comes one final time"

The time dilation angle is the weakest part of the new lore, I'd prefer if they didn't ruin Yarrick with that.

Its always been there, just the rift making travel more difficult.

Yarrick departs Armegeddon to redevous with command. His ship enters the warp, re-appears 100 years later.

I dont like the time dilation thing on planets, as that would screw up the orbits of entire solar systems.

Its always been there, but never used in such a hamfisted way. Armageddon is not far from Terra, one of the books mentioned a few months travel at most, iirc (don't quote me on that, I can't remember which book). For Armageddon to essentially be trapped in the same year as the rift opening for 100 years just seems a little too on the nose.

Granted, it is a Daemon World now (for some reason), so anything can happen, but I liked Armageddon for being orks vs. humans and the daemon element just doesn't tickle my fancy the same way.

Consequences of the First War for Armageddon, I'd wager. The veil is probably a little thin there.

can probably go back further. Because Armegeddon is actually Ullanor. The orks waaagh energies might some how be trapped in the world. and thats why its such a hot commodity for daemons, perhaps they can tap into it and use it once there. ( just kinda as a well of warp energy)

Considering all the theory-crafting about Armageddon it at least seems like people wouldn't mind a campaign heading back there in the near future.

It obviously still depends on what happens at Vigilus and how much they want to shoehorn Abaddon into every conflict now that he has a new model (lex Guilliman). I'm sure at least one of the two would show up at Armageddon though, if we get a new Ghaz and a new Angron model in a massive campaign then I assume Guilliman would jump in, most likely alongside another loyalist primarch. Thing is, that other loyalist would most likely have been released before Armageddon as I doubt they'd release three primarch/primarch sized characters for a single event. If they introduce a new loyalist primarch then surely that guy gets his own story arc for a little while before they jump into a new campaign?

This whole thing is my roundabout way of saying that I doubt we get Armageddon as the next campaign, maybe the one after that though.

A big campaign series around the Eldar with a range revamp. Whether that’s the new faction or Craftworld, I dunno. No interest in the pointy ears but they need some attention, definitely.

I also think it’s telling that the IG haven’t been in a Battlebox yet, I think we’ll be seeing something there, probably around an Armageddon campaign with big Gaz on the other side.

I think we’ll see a decent sized Vanguard release and I also think we’ll have a new edition of Apocalypse (there’s been a few rumours) and that the Primaris will get a plastic Overlord flyer.

From a personal point of view, I’d like some more AdMech stuff especially a transport and a flyer.

I can't remember where I read it, but I believe it was stated somewhere that Yarricks skin acquired a faint green tint to it, and the reason he has the ability to come back from the dead in game, is because Orks don't believe he can die.

Also, there was debate about whether or not his robot eye caused the belief that he could kill with a glance, or that the belief he could kill with a glance caused the robot eye.

wasn't it this.

orks said Yarrick could kill with just a glance, and after a while Yarrick had an eye blown out and he requested a las gun be implemented in his replacement eye. to make the orks belief more real.

Basically Yarrick was like, Yo, they say I can kill with a glance, so I decided to make it so I can kill with a glance.

I thought it was stated differently in different places. Like, in the guard codex it's Yarrick being cunning, but when mentioned from Ork Perspective it's Yarrick being a powerful enemy of the Orks.
