Beatnik cryptek
It's pretty obvious that necrons have a real thing for staffs. just about everything above the level of basic troops either have staff like weapons or have options for a staff like weapon. So, where do necrons get their fetish for staffs?I was thinking that staffs may have been part of necrontyr history for a very lone time.In their earliest days the radiation weakened necrontyr may have used staffs to walk as cancers and other ailments weakened their bodies over time. It would be natural that the higher members of society would have more elaborate staffs than the masses. Maybe as time progressed and technology improved necrontyr may have laced pouches with simple medicines like painkillers to their staffs for easy access, and again the higher necrontyr had more elaborate and effective staffs.Later they may have developed medical technology that could be integrated into a staff, machines that could monitor the weilder's health thru hand contacts and diagnose his condition in real time, maybe even administer certain medications automatically. Finally as necrontyr technology surpassed anything humans now possess, the staffs may have had anti gravity generators in them that reduced the weidler's effective weight, making it easier for the more infirm necrontyr to stand and walk.So it's possible that staffs were an essential part of necrontyr society from it's earliest days and the necrons kept them out of tradition. NTaW
Here I thought it was a play off the Ma'tok staff from Stargate since it came out 4/5 years before Necrons with space Egyptians wielding staffs of futuristic destruction. I like your musings here a lot more than that idea  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354401-necron-staffs/#findComment-5272643 Share on other sites
Beatnik cryptek
Tbh the rules for 40k are generally trash, but the background has become fascinating. Frankly I enjoy playing with the background as much as he game itself.
