DDA usage

How do you use your DDAs? Long range only? Close in with gauss flayers and low power DC Shots? What dynasty do you use with them?

I use sautek so they can be either and their role changes depending on my opponent. Mine have done both over the games they have been in.

With anger and hate. My DDA always underperform. Random shots plus random damage is so frustrating.

 

But, I usually drop mine up in terrain, with LoS and a cover save if I can. I try not to move it if I don’t absolutely have to. It’s one of our few anti armor units, and it needs the S10.

Has anyon deliberately ran a dda into the enemy so you can make a lot of infantry go away with the gauss arrays, especially if playing mephrit and at 12"? Use the ddc at "low power" on sone tougher targets while shredding infantry?

that goes against what it really is used for. if you have other units to support the DDA then it could work. otherwise you are sending a high point unit on a suicide mission where you might only get one hit.

I think if that's the plan you may be better served by a Ghost Ark.

Or even a blob of tomb blades. The DDA wants to stand and shoot, preferably from the tallest mountain. I find the Gauss arrays more for defensive shooting when things get too close.
