(L-R) Communication Specialist McFarb, Inquisitor Grayson Reeve, Commander Hendrick Finchley, Communication Specialist Brells, Tempestor Prime Collem Meed

-- The Corlesian Cataphracts --

Forged in the ancient halls of the Schola Progenium known as 'The Boneyard' on the Imperial Civilized world of Corlesia. The Militarum Tempestus of the Corlesian Cataphracts are famed for their mobility and combined firepower, riding either Taurox Primes or Valkyrie Gunships and deploying before their foes even know what hit them.

Following the significant losses on Corlesia during what became known as 'The Night of a thousand rebellions' throughout Segmentum Pacificus in M41, the Tempestus of their renown ranks fell on hard times but though the assistance of Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Grayson Reeve their progena formed several regiments under the express control of the Inquisitions will.

Ok, ok, ok. Let me run through my list...

Beautifully painted...check.

Inquisition elements...check.

Stormtroopers...check.

Older models mixed with newer...check.

Narrative elements...check.

Ok, and I mean this in a purely man and plastic, platonic, fashion, but I might be in love. I'll be paying close attention. Welcome to the barracks.

Thank you all for the welcome and positive replies.

I've been using Instagram to share pictures and will link that in either my signature (If I figure out how) or edit it into the first post, but I'll likely be uploading most of those onto here to share anyway.

@Duz - Going forward I'll be uploading a few more pictures of what I've got complete with a little narrative to whats in the picture, and also sharing some of the fluff I've written out for my Tempestus. Heres the command bunker as requested. It's two of the Armoured Containers with some sprucing up from various accessory pieces I had to hand. The only issue I've had is the roof doesn't fit entirely flush as I've left it loose to access the interior better.

For those interested, I'm currently working on a little displace for my local GW as they're running an 'Armies on a plate' at months end.

Squads of Corlesian Cataphracts typically operate in squads of five, however they will form up into a ten man squad when the mission calls for it. The longest serving Tempestor remains in command of the squad, the other taking up position as Vox-operator. These Tempetus wear the traditional Corlesian colours, with their Tempestor wearing the reverse.

Whilst some may look down (Not literally) at members of the abhuman auxiliary, they're a welcome addition to the Corlesian Cataphracts for their specialisations. In this case, being a big lad. Whilst their Bone'ead keeps the Bullgryns in line it takes a righteous man to lead them through the battlefield such as the Ministorum Priests from amongst the Schola Progenium's religous halls. This Priest is affectionately named 'Leathers' by those under his command for his style of discipline.

Imperial Naval Gunner Owyns takes cover amidst an Industrial sector following his Valkyrie gunship being downed by Heretic Astartes forces. Several members of the Deathguard traitor legion surround his position and he's left to prepare his defence, a standard issue utility knife and the knowledge that The Emperor Protects..

So I know I posted my previous 'Armies on a plate' progress a couple posts ago, but I've decided to completely change my entry with only a few days to go. The last post was essentially just a scaled down version of last years Armies on parade entry, and seeing as several of the other entries were more diaramas rather than army displays, I figured I'd follow suit. Also enjoying painting up Navy colours lately whilst working on some Deathguard pieces for a friend.

'The Emperor Protects'

So I didnt manage to win, but I got a few votes and the competition was fantastic. Anyway, heres the final product as was handed in and on display in my local GW.

Keeping in theme with the Imperial Navy pilot in my display, heres one of my Valkyrie gunners. I'm working on a few other 'Objectives' like this fella to be used in Narrative Killteam/40k games, but having painted two people with my Naval scheme I'm tempted with a few more. Just need to get my hands on a few more of these helmets.

As part of the deal made between Inquisition leadership and the command remnants of Corlesia's Schola Progenium 'The Boneyard' was to induct a percentage of their Progena into service purely of the Inquisitions control. Amongst these ranks stand those with a gift for melee and a zealotry matched only by the Crusaders of the Cardinals Crimson.

Shameless stolen inspired by @Expendable_Aquanaut's Tempestus Scion 'Breachers'. I've been umm'ing and Arr'ing about making a squad of Crusaders for some variety in my games, whilst wanting to do more of my Inquisition forces. Spotting his use of the Van Saar shield with the Tempetus body, I was sold. After some successful begging politely asking down at my local GW, I got my hands on some spare Skitarii Vanguard bits and promptly pocketed all the heads.

As an aside to this Crusader, of which I plan to do one more for now (Only spare body I have) I'm also working on my Valkyrie pledge to the Relics of the Armoury campaign. It's my first 'Preowned' larger model, and painting it has been less than enjoyable but she's almost done! Something about painting a big model fully constructed was a put off for me.

Excellent work with the crusader! I like the head swap. I'll likely have to do that with my next squad...

As a tip for maximizing energy shields: I think you can get a van saar weapons kit that comes with 4 deployed shields and one closed shield unit. Just a thought for future conversions if you dont need the van saar bodies and stuff.

Excited to hear how they perform in game. Mine have done pretty well so far. Although I always seem to fail the first few save rolls on them. Maybe it's because I didnt give them helmets...

Anyway, good work and I'm excited to see more.

Thank you for the encouraging comments everybody.

@Expendable_Aquanaut - I'm probably gonna' proxie them before actually dedicating myself to running a full squad of them. If I'm running anything melee-focused, I tend to go Bullgryns. My main opponents are Harlequins, Custodes and Space Marines. So two of the three of those will ignore the power swords anti-armour. Besides, you don't argue with an angry Bullgryn.

How do you find the best way of running them? Squad size, etc.
