Dark Bjoern
Greetings my fellow Princeps. Finally i jumped onto the AT train. Since my plan to build up a 40k Titan legion failed, i thought an AT legion is more in favor of my wallet. So i made my first shopping tour. I decided for Legio Astorum. I´m a fan of Astorum since FW released the Vraks Campaign books. The Knights will become House Taranis. As a proud member of the House Taranis Owners Club there is no other option for me! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Adeptus%20Titanicus/And%20so%20it%20begins_zpsk1xa2izk.jpg Since the additional sprue, the one with the Sunfire, for the Warlord is still not aviable i bought the new Reaver sprue with the chain fist. Yesterday i started with my first Warlord. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Adeptus%20Titanicus/Warlord%2001%20WIP%2001_zpsjvdhsozr.jpg I gladly noticed that GW prepared the warlord kit for magnetization. Spared me some work . Sadly i noticed that i don´t have the blue paints i wanna use not at hand. so all i can do for now will be the metalic and yellow parts. Mendi Warrior
Cool start! If you have not done yet, you can still make a pledge for the event ending next month (a little less than a month from now) http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353097-titans-of-the-heresy/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354601-legio-astorum-walks/#findComment-5278032 Share on other sites
Dark Bjoern
No, i don´t have the paints at hand. I want a certain blue and those paints are at my other domicile. Two weeks till i can grab them and start painting in earnest. But i made some pprogress. Today i build the Reaver, magnetized and primed him. Finally i shaded both titans. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Adeptus%20Titanicus/Warlord%2001%20WIP%2002_zpsuwd28wko.jpg Achinadav and Master Ciaphas 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354601-legio-astorum-walks/#findComment-5278050 Share on other sites
Master Ciaphas
Lovely beginnings! I will be following with interest, as I am also doing Legio Astorum! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354601-legio-astorum-walks/#findComment-5278494 Share on other sites
Mendi Warrior
You would have less than 2 weeks left, maybe a bit short. In any case, excellent start! Looking forward to more. Dark Bjoern
A small update. During the last days i assembled the rest of my stuff. I heeded the wisdom of my fellow Princeps and magnetized the Warhounds. Tomorrow i wanna start with the bases. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Adeptus%20Titanicus/Battlegroup%20WIP%2001_zps83vszaqt.jpg Can´t decide which head to use for my first Reaver. I like them both. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/DarkBjoern/Adeptus%20Titanicus/Reaver%2001%20WIP%2001_zpscsjiq4oc.jpg Damn, the batteries of my camera died away just bevor the last pic i wanted to take. Mendi Warrior
Nice. Magnetising the Reaver's heads is not too difficult, if you can't choose Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354601-legio-astorum-walks/#findComment-5281441 Share on other sites
Dark Bjoern
No, Weapons are fine to magnetize but not the heads. In the past i magnetized everything just because i can. But meanwhile only what is necessary. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354601-legio-astorum-walks/#findComment-5281443 Share on other sites

Dark Bjoern
I know my previous pics had been a bit underwealming. I hope my bases impresses a bit more. Dark Bjoern
Next step: some dry brushing. Inside the craters darker and outside a bit brighter to get a smoother transition between the rubble and the desert plain. Mandragola
Looking good. I find it kind of funny how the two of us have approached our Astorum titans completely in opposite ways, but probably heading for a similar result. I’m also thinking of having my guys overrunning trenches, but I’ve done no work on them at all and just done the titans themselves. Your bases are great but now I really want to see how you go about painting your big stomps robots. Dark Bjoern
Thanks, Brother Mandragola! I hope to be able to present something acceptable end of the week. Actual i´m working at my gold. Dark Bjoern
Another update. I start painting the tokens and marker. Still wip, but from now on i will call him by his Name Invictus Depulsor I thought about going ahead with the Reaver. But with the arrival of the additional weapon sprue for Invitus Depulsor i will go ahead with that and a Warhound. Tommorow i want to finish the base of Invictus Depulsor Edited April 6, 2019 by Dark Bjoern Cpt. Achinadav
Your bases are incredibly effective. The craters and texture paints have worked really well. AT has led to me using technical paints in anger for the first time and I'm amazed at how a bit of drybrushing and washing really brings them alive. Looking forward to seeing your finished tranches too. Rabenga
What texture paint did you use to achieve the crackle effect on the bases? Blue and gold both look brilliant!
