"Like Vigilus Defiant, the book rewards you for taking narrative-themed forces with a number of Specialist Detachments, like the terror-bringing Host Raptorial or the mysterious Fallen Angels."

Hopefully, we get new models?

Definietely no new models. If GW is to release new fallen units then it will be (probably) along DA releases. I don't know when it will be but I count on large fallen/loyalist confilct with Luther/awakening Lion releases in the distant future. Wouldn't count on ANY DA specific release in the coming months unfortunately :(

Fallen are completely unplayable as is IMO. No transports for 6in move = not competitive, or even much fun. If they could all take heavy weapons then at least re-rolling 1s would be ok, but not worth it for 1 heavy weapon.

Here are my "house rule" fixes:

And here is my first stab at some fun ideas for a full "codex":

Greetings loyalist scum! I’m hyped for new fallen rules! I’ve got cypher and a box of DA vets on sprues still, actually glad I waited this long because they will be great fun to kitbash with the new chaos marines. I just need to find some local DA players to get some narrative games going!

Since today’s Faction Focus goes into more details regarding the Fallen:

The Fallen

Vigilus Ablaze includes loads of content for fans of the Fallen, too! As well as taking a pivotal role in the plot of the story on Vigilus, they can also be fielded with the Fallen Angels Specialist Detachment. This Specialist Detachment lets you give Chaos Sorcerers and Rhinos the Fallen keyword, adding yet more flexibility to these mysterious warriors.

This Specialist Detachment is fantastic for messing with your foe’s Command Points, preventing them from generating new ones mid-game, representing Cypher’s disruptive effects on the battlefield…

What’s more, Fallen in this Detachment are particularly hard to hit thanks to an invaluable Stratagem.

Whether you’re using them as an army in their own right, or as allies to a wider Chaos force, the Fallen are as effective on the battlefield as they are inscrutable…

If Fallen Sorcerers can use dark heretics discipline, that will be nice to have Death Hex to cancel enemy unit's invulnerable save for Imperium. But Fallen don't have HERETIC ASTATES keyword, which means they can't receive any buff from sorcerers...

Yeah that keyword is a requirement on the 3 buffing powers, so if you were running only Fallen, then Infernal Gaze, Death Hex and Gift of Chaos are the only options (without further info from Vigilus Ablaze).

Having Death Hex and Null Zone in the same army could be useful, particularly with 2 jump pack characters. More chances at cancelling that Castellan's 3++

Also, it means that including a Fallen detachment can now be as a Supreme Command Detachment instead of a Vanguard. 2 Jump Pack Sorcerer, then Cypher  + 9 Fallen in a Rhino.

In no circumstance will you be allowd death hex and null zone in the same army

even though the fallen are Chaos and imperium, all units in a match play army need to share a faction keyword.

Therefore you can never have a sorcerer and a Librarian in the same army.

Yes. You are right! Unless GW also give them Imperium keyword. But unlikely.

Hmmm.

Take a Vanguard detachment with Cypher, Sorcerer, 3xFallen, optional 2 Rhinos. Each fallen can take a combi-plasma.

With Cypher I'm re-rolling 1's to hit, and I can spend 1cp to re-roll wounds. Makes a super-charged combi-plasma that bit more potent (but makes the Fallen Angels ability pointless).

Sorcerer gives me access to Dark Hereticus and Death Hex. I've got 12/24 super-charged Plasma shots that I can dish out with no invuln save to boot.

Just a damn shame that they don't yet get access to beta bolter rule.
