"Dark Angel, with thine aching lust

To rid the world of penitence:
Malicious Angel, who still dost
My soul such subtile violence!"

Also a Tattoo is a highly personal and fairly permanent body modification. I don't think your friend should be searching through a second party on a third party for inspiration of what tattoo he should get; it ideally should be something that he personally finds and is inspired by. I wouldn't want to be responsible for giving the phrase that's chosen and have the guy regretting his decision a week or two later.

^^ Also this.

If he doesn't really, really want something on his body, then he shouldn't be getting it done.

There are so many quotes that he can probably go full Word Bearer and cover his whole body with scriptures :biggrin.:

I like "Extremis Diabolus"

There was a time I used some WH40K quotes in my email signature (internal only) … not an idea to replicate ...

Want a quote that sums up 40k?

"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods"

Start to finish, no abbrevations, amendments or omissions. Anything less is unacceptable.

Better make that a full back job lol

"two thin coats"

- Duncan on how it should be done

This would be awesome. As a tattooer let me chime in. Wall of text generally makes for ugly tattoos. It’s a visual medium and there’s plenty of awesome imagery in this hobby. Keep phrases short, and keep in mind that there are actually a lot of tattooers who are into the hobby and would LOVE to create something based on it. I’ve been surprised to find that several of my colleagues either collect, play, or have in the past. Hell through Bolt Thrower most of us are at least awareness of 40k.

That's not how you spell Socrates

This.

Other responses are fun, but unless it's something that he can't get out his head, that he feels imperative to have put on his body, I'd ask why? A 40k inflected tattoo for the sake of it. Sounds like the basis of regret to me.
