Ideas on using the new Abaddon model

I love the new Abaddon model, it's perfect in my opinion. I love the Terminator armor, the claw, just everything about it. The only thing I don't like is the fact it doesn't fit in my DG or SW army.

Seeing as my DG army will eventually have mortarion, I want to get my Lord of War for my SW army. My only thought is to use him as a replacement for Bjorn. He seems about the right size as a dreadnought without his base. They both have claws and bolt guns (though totally different styles). I could remove the sword off Abaddon and put a shield or something instead.

For a lore perspective I could write it off as he has a gene trait to be huge, much like Tyberus, Haegr, Ranulf, or even Abaddon himself.

However I wanted to know what you guys think, or if it is even possible. Sometimes my ideas run wild, when it is impossible to do.

I've had the same thoughts for the HH character series Horus. I'm of two minds though, on one hand i'm all for getting creative and seeing conversions, but on the other, that type of centerpiece is weird to not really follow any lore. Grimnar should be our biggest and baddest in universe atm.

I dig the counts as Bjorn angle though, one of the only positives i see to the lack of vehicle rules this edition. I say go for it, its a beautiful model.

Modelling > fluff IMHO. If you create a cool, custom model then you have earned the right to come up with a fluff reason to use it. I like 40K for the modelling, the gaming and the fluff but I try to make sure I don't let one restrict the fun of the others.

the sprue was posted in the News thread. looks ridiculously easy to ktibash.

The chest piece with the cables going to it was my biggest worry as it looked like it would me molded on. So glad it isn't. Now it the left knee that looks difficult.

Guess it's time to learn how to use green stuff and where to buy/best stuff to buy.

Then off to the fluff to decide if he should be the leader or simply the leader of the housecarls.

Pulled the trigger, ordered Abaddon and running him as "bjorn", fluff wise he is the leader of the Huskarls. Thinking of also purchasing some Cataphractii Huskarls, just worried about the size difference between the rest of my army (primaris) and the cataphractii.

Fluff: Big Boy Primaris goes through a bought of the Wulfens. He pulls himself back (perhaps because of Primaris safeguards) from he finds himself warped and even bigger boy.

That or he's a Big Boy Primaris Rune Priest who loves his Biomancy. The Return of Biomancy Bob.

The model is stunning and I hate to say it I'd even just paint him up as it - but I am tempted by a conversion.  On a similar theme, is just  me or do the new Chaos Marines look so much better than the stock Primaris, just all the extra bits and weapons, I'm jealous.

this is just my take, but i think you need the clean slate for contrast. if everything is loaded with special bits, nothing is special, right?  Base Primaris models being simple and stripped down makes them very easy to add wolf-bitz too and convert to Space Wolves (or whatever other special chapter you happen like). I can work with them in a way I can't older Codex model kits without having to file off the iconography (you know, the roman styled stuff that looks fine for ultramarines but wrong on space wolves).

edit: I am really, thirsty for some special wolfed Primaris kits and heroes to come out, though.

I do agree the current Primaris are very easy to kitbash due to the lack of Legion specific icons and gubins - I'm just liking the variety of weapons we are seeing for the new Chaos figures.

TBH there is only 2 things I want from the Primaris since day 1. Terminators in a cataphractii style, and power weapon melee in intercessors armor.

How ever we have neither, and I am tired of waiting.

Anyways back to the subject at hand. Anyone else going to convert a Abaddon?
