Axineton
So after I've finished my Ultramarines and played a few more games with them to get used to 40k, I'm thinking of building and painting 2 Xenos armies and the Harlequins are one of them and I have a few questions. I did pick up a small Harlquin force on gumtree a few weeks back that consisted of 3 Troupes, death Jester and Eldrad Ulthran. It also came with 2 Skyweavers and a Starweaver but the 3 vehicles were in a sorry state so I sold them on ebay. Since I picked this gumtree find up I've also purchased a Solitaire and a Shadowseer and another Troupe. I also have the Eldar part of Wake the Dead box available as well although I'm not sure on the points value of any of this. Is a 2000pt pure Harlequin army viable or should I put some Eldar in it or leave it pure Harlies? What else do I need to get the points value to 2000? I like the Masque of the Dreaming Shadow but should I paint them in my own scheme so I can take advantage of the rest of the Masques abilities etc? Papewaio
How competitive are you talking? I play pure 'quins, and while I'm never going to dominate tournaments I feel like they can hold their own. Either way, you absolutely want a transport for every troupe. It just adds so much to them in terms of survivability and mobility, and extra shuriken cannon don't hurt. At 2k, for pure Harlequins, I'd strongly consider running dual battalion. Definitely get your hands on some Skyweavers - they're pure gold. Deleting a vehicle a turn? Sweet. In terms of paint schemes, Harlies aren't really like Space Marines in that everyone knows what colour scheme goes with what set of rules. Paint them however you like and use whatever Masque form you like. Axineton
I don’t care about being competitive mate. I’m only in it for the fun of gaming. Ok so get a few skyweavers. I’ll add them to my shopping list. alanbezley
well wildman, i have been thinking about this thread for a while. i haven't played my harlies yet but i can give you a lowdown on what i have so it can give you a idea on what to look at 2 troupe masters 2 shadowseers 3 6 man troupes 2 deathjesters 1 solitaire 6 skyweavers 3 starweavers webway gate this comes out to 1800pts i think....i let a power gamer friend of mine play them and he played all but the hq and special characters and stomped a khorne beserker army with Khârn so badly that he gave the codex and data cards away.......now if anyone says that the army doesn't have potential ,,,,,,then ignore them....play with what you have, and try a few other things that i mentioned and you should do well.....but who cares about that as long as you have a blast,,,,, then who cares ....have fun Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354770-thinking-of-starting-harlequins-so-a-few-questions/#findComment-5291276 Share on other sites
