Magos Takatus
Hi. I thought I'd open a discussion about the paints offered by the Green Stuff World website. I've seen and been part of some discussion about the Chameleon Colour Shift range that they produce (Which I believe are fantastic, but the results are at their best when applied using an airbrush). I recently bought some of their metallics and Fluor fluorescent paints to test. I'm curious to see what other people think. Firstly I'll start with the metallic paints I have tested. I purchased Steampunk Copper, Tinmetal Grey and Dark Bronze. All three have really good coverage but are really thick and dry very quickly. I think either a wet palette or drying retarder are needed to get best results. The Tinmetal came out more silvery than I expected but looks nice and the Steampunk Copper turned out really nice. Just a recess shade of Reikland Fleshshade produced a nice clean looking copper effect. I mixed in a highlight using a Scale 75 paint, Moonstone Alchemy and I'm pretty happy with the result. I need to test the paints a bit more but so far I can recommend them in a similar way to GW base paints unless you thin them down. I also tried the Fluor paint set. The paints are very thin by contrast and I found building up coats of the paint gets a nice effect. I am currently painting an Ork Mek in Mega Armour and I am painting the glowing bionic bits using the orange and white fluorescent paints. I can't yet vouch for the ability to glow under ultraviolet light since I don't have one to test it yet but I am seriously considering painting the blue and white Fluor paints over my Adeptus Mechanicus models' weapons. Having a glowing paint effect will be perfect for the Radium weapons in particular. I'll test both sets of paints on some proper test models later down the line and see how they turn out. Has anybody else been playing around with the Green Stuff World paints? Any luck with them? Evil Eye
I have their colour shift paints and they're wonderful. As you say, best through an airbrush but they do work quite nicely by hand as well.
