SkimaskMohawk
There is a huge inconsistency of performance of Curze, to say the least. And cited paragraph is purely a poetic metaphor. And remember, what information we know about Thramas is penned by the author of Night Lords trilogy, thus it could well be biased. And nope. We know next to nothing about Thramas - actually, it is the least explored major conflict of the HH - and how the NL held off for three years against supposedly (and supposedly - since it seems like in Thramas, the First held none meaningful numerical advantage at all, for whatever reasons) superior force. Also, I can't remember who Sebatar doesn't treat like chumps or mere mortals, save for the very best among the Legions like Corswain or Sigismund. rolleyesclean.gif And yet, it's what we have. Every primarch can beat every other primarch, context permitting. Im not too fussed curze lost a couple of times; the only victory that mattered to me was in court. The cited phrases came from the lion himself. A guy who talks about battle and strategy with logic and analytics (that's another quote from savage weapons BTW, from a dark angel as well). Trying to say that it's written by an author who writes night lords and is therefor unreliable is ridiculous. Throw out all the tech and hexagrammaticon formations seen in angels of Caliban, because Gav is a dark angels writer and is unreliable. That's how it's going to go. Assuming what you said about adb is nonsense, then going back to savage weapons, the lion also states his is the last loyalist legion at full strength. Do you know who weren't at full strength? The night lords; they'd just taken part in the dropsite massacre. There's no line indicating a lack of numerical strength. Simply deadlocked. And if your seraphim were "driving the night lords to extinction" as you put it, you think the defacto leader would be concerned about them, or running into these renowned legends. Or not, because they're not special. They were just marines. MegaVolt87
Thramas is going th be the Dark Angels Vietnam, Night Lords may lose but DA are going to get a kicking non-withstanding. bluntblade
Thramas, in Sevatar's view, sees the Night Lords achieve their objectives, his own agenda and the maulings dealt out by the DA notwithstanding. b1soul
Sevatar's definition of victory is losing 20% of the VIIIth Legion fleet and having his Primarch in a near-death coma Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355237-in-angelus-when-finally-the-angelis-tenebrium-are-unleashed/page/2/#findComment-5298721 Share on other sites
bluntblade
Sevatar's definition of victory is losing 20% of the VIIIth Legion fleet and having his Primarch in a near-death coma That's not what I said, mate. Sevatar says the campaign did its job to tie up the Dark Angel's for years. However, he also views the ambush as a bad enough defeat that he'll murder his opposite numbers to stop then trying to take the VIIIth Legion back into the fight. This got me thinking, is Konrad at this point so far gone he has all but relinquished command of the NL, he is only capable of being a murder blender? I am assuming Horus has instructed NL to tie up the DA as he knew that they aren't capable of defeating the DA completely like he thought that the WB could do to the UM? I have trouble time lining things in the HH. Seems Horus was a good judge of what his allies were capable of. b1soul
@ Bluntblade I was joking around mate. Yes, the NL achieved the objective of tying up the DA. Marshal Rohr
That’s not really a constructive take, is it? SkimaskMohawk
Night lords got crushed so bad at Thramas that the didn't do :cuss during the rest of the heresy. I mean, they destroyed the pharos and then subsequently ambushed corax' gathered fleet. That's after taking the dark angels out of the race to terra and sidelining them for the heresy. Sandlemad
The NL also apparently ran a fair bit of disruption in the early part of the Solar invasion (not read The Solar War but I've seen it mentioned, please correct if mistaken) and got up to whatever they got up to on Terra. Curze and Sevatar weren't there but hopefully we'll see at least a nod to the older background of Zso Sahaal and his jump pack troops being the first atop the walls.
