Getting Ready For ETL - The Korven Return.

Inspired by the new chaos minis, i've decided to bring back my renegade warband from when i started to play 40k way back in 2nd ed. Got a bunch of squads put together and now i'm desperately resisting the urge to paint them until ETL starts, proving slightly more difficult than quitting smoking (76 days and counting :)) lol.

So let me introduce you all to the Korven, formally members of the Covenant of Dorn chapter.  After their chapter master wholeheartedly embraced the Primaris influx as the future of the chapter, 1st Captain, Pasha Bayle, and his veterans found themselves increasingly marginalized as the Covenant moved away from the assault tactics that had been their speciality and adopted combat methods more suited to the Primarines.

Resentment grew and eventually developed into conflict between Bayle and the chapter veterans on one side,  and the Primaris and chapter master on the other. Hoping to avoid an all-out chapter war, Bayle gathered his men and fled, beginning the long process that led to their rebirth as Paschal Baylon and the Korven.

Really cool back story! The models look great, esp Mr Bayle. Do you have a colour scheme planned for them?

Thanks, glad you guys like them. The colour scheme is green and silver with bronze trim. As i'm holding off painting these guys for another month or so, i've been knocking out a few Covenant of Dorn Primaris as a test. They'll look basically like this, but with more brass as the CSMs have a lot more trim.

An unusual colour scheme, but looking good! I think a contras colour on the champions backpack would look even better though, the green/green combo is a bit odd.

Yeah, I wanted the trophy to represent a former brother slain during the chapter war, but I think I'll have to redo it. The veteran stripe isn't enough to make it stand out.

Ah okay, that makes a lot more sense now.

I didn't feel that the standard Dark Apostle fitted the theme of my warband so I kitbashed this guy. Zadok Allein was the chief Apothecary of the Covenant of Dorn, now he uses his skills keeping he Korven battle-fit and, with his two orderlies, Munoz and Wilmarth, concocts various combat stims which he uses to boost the warband's prowess.

Love the minis, especially the Berserkers. Where have you picked up those chainaxes, Brother?

Also your scheme reminds me of the Children of Purgatos that were displayed in the Holy Hainesdex back in the days.

Excellent job!
