Filkarion
Hi guys! As the title suggest I have (a bit too much) less in the money department but I had a sudden spike in primarchs! So I will finally do a legion! As it is well know by people who read my posts the IX is the favorite legion of my wife (mainly thanks to the fabulous Hawkboy, but not only), and as i like almost all of them I gladly let her chose for me, and I'm very happy! So, I have some resources in my possession or soon to be! One box of Betrayal and one of Prospero One old 2nd ed Rhino 3 boxes of sanguinary guards A lot of jump packs a box of Ryza pattern lascannons And obviously big S himself So my plan is: A solid block of 20 assault guys a pair of other squads with jetpacks (still undecided) a melta Moritat (from Calth chaplain) A laser Devastator (from Prospero and Ryza) A Damocles Rhino A flying Contemptor I also plan to build some appropriate scouts (I have a ton of marine bits) to help me place a nuncio vox in some critical location before game starts and it starts to rain angels Obviously Day or Revelation Rite of War So, is it a sound plan, aiming for 2000? I have still a lot of terminators and a good amount of Iron armors, perfect for veterans or the like Any suggestions? Please 30k Blood Angels, make me feel welcome P.S. I have also a lot of fluff in mind... is 99th company free? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355384-and-then-i-bought-sanguinius/ Share on other sites
Spiritual Liege
You should get more Assault Marines. Two squads of 20 or three squads of 15 would be a nice start. Some flyers wouldn't be out of place, a pair of Lightnings or a Fire Raptor perhaps. Speeders are also a great choice. Filkarion
Thanks! I wanted to start with playing with things I have but those seems good suggestions. I got that big squads are in some way needed in this game (they also are cheaper, a thing I have always found a good idea for the game itself)... Well, I admit I have a second Betrayal at Calth still sealed (it was an occasion, I grabbed it with the Idea of selling it, but it's still there...) Anyway I will get a look on flyers and speeders, not a big fan of them through, for money (flyers) and model (speeders) reasons...I will see Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355384-and-then-i-bought-sanguinius/#findComment-5298622 Share on other sites
Sparika
The Angels Tears seems a nice unit that would go well with a Moritat. Building them with mk4 marines + jump pack + some weapons (assault canons, hand flamers, ...). However, the Moritat would need a jumppack. It may be difficult to convert the Calth Chaplain to have one ... I would (and I will :)) also do a sanguinary squad of 5 (command squad), to go with Sanguinius. Filkarion
The Angels Tears seems a nice unit that would go well with a Moritat. Building them with mk4 marines + jump pack + some weapons (assault canons, hand flamers, ...). I will gladly do so...I'm still a bit uncertain on armor pattern on them...I will see what fits them better, also probably add to the mix sanguinary guard masks or maybe stormcast heads.. I will see. Also, a moritat can never benefit from others special rules and rites of war, but what happens when it is in a unit like this? I could not find anything usefull on rules/FAQ However, the Moritat would need a jumppack. It may be difficult to convert the Calth Chaplain to have one ... no, it's a joke He has his nice backpack slot, and it fits nicely with mk4 jetpack I will probably change his head, though And I also have a plan for a "one wing" approach, with a winged third part jetpack I bought years ago for this exact purpose maybe using the wing and standard jetpack like this I would (and I will ) also do a sanguinary squad of 5 (command squad), to go with Sanguinius. Tempting, but I was asking myself if the Primarch would be more tactically useful as a delivery method for the large 20 assault marines squad, as he and his unit do not scatter.
