Unknown Legionnaire
Quick question for those in the know: Can all the various Baneblade variants be assembled without the side sponsons ? I.E. are these optional or mandatory on the kits ? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355403-baneblade-stormblade-etc-variants/ Share on other sites
Elzender
If I recall correctly, the issue with the kit is that it does not include enough lateral armour plates to substitute the side sponsons if you want to leave them out. It should not be difficult to either cast a couple copies of the available plates or scratchbuild them, as they are basically rectangles with rivets, to which you can add iconography and extras to your taste. I had a half-built shadowsword that I was in the process of magnetizing to use all the options, but I don't have it at hand for the moment being. Let's see if someone can take some pictures to illustrate it. Unknown Legionnaire
I see. Thanks for the heads-up Elzender, much appreciated ! Might these be the armour plates that would be missing ? Would make things a bit easier. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355403-baneblade-stormblade-etc-variants/#findComment-5299151 Share on other sites
Elzender
I see. Thanks for the heads-up Elzender, much appreciated ! Might these be the armour plates that would be missing ? Would make things a bit easier. You're welcome! I'm pretty sure these are the ones, but there are also some other plates to cover the upper part of the hull, as the sponson joins the hull in kind of an inverted "L" shape. http://i.imgur.com/q2SYGdj.jpg The panels in the blue circle are the ones that you've found, and go to the sides of the hull, whereas the ones circled in red go just on the top of the hull aligned with them. See the small rectangles on the red panels? They slot into the "top surface" side plates (the arrow points at one of them, and you can see it has three rectangular "holes" along its length). Each side of the hull has three "slots" to add either the armour plates or the sponsons. The kit comes with 4 "upper" plates and 4 side plates, so you can choose if you put the sponson towards the front or the back of the tank hull, but there are not enough plates to cover both sides fully and leave the sponsons out. I hope I didn't confuse more with my explanation :D. If you are not following me (I wouldn't blame you), it might be worth to find an assembly video or a pdf of the building guide, it should be pretty clear there. GW used to sell some of the baneblade sprues individually but I cannot recall if it was this one or not, but it might be eorth to check if there are still some around the interwebs. Sparika
On this blog there is a complete tutorial on how to build every variant of baneblade from the plastic kit. It's in french but it should be self explanatory with a pass of Google translate. http://mespetitsbonhommes.blogspot.com/search/label/Baneblade Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355403-baneblade-stormblade-etc-variants/#findComment-5299481 Share on other sites
Unknown Legionnaire
@Elzender: Thank you so much again for the effort and explanation. Totally figured out by now which parts I'll need if I want to build a variant without the turrets. And yes, GW apparently is still selling the sprue with the armour plates, although the price is a bit steep, but I'll have a lot of leftover bits for terrain design I guess. @Sparika: Thanks a bunch to you as well ! Luckily I know a bit of French, so won't have much of a problem here !
