DadJokes
Just getting back from a small 1250pt Highlander event a friend was running at The Dragons Horde in Staunton Virginia. Great shop! Wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive. I took with me: Azrael Lieutenant, Storm Bolter Apothecary Primaris Ancient 10 Hellblasters 9 Scouts, Heavy Bolter 8 Intercessors, Powersword 5 Infiltrators 5 Deathwing, Assault Cannon I got shot off the table by both Necrons and Mechanicum. Each game they went first. They were able to remove my screens and the Hellblasters by turn two, leaving me with no threats on the board and no objectives held. Then I just played Points Denial. Lost a close game against another friends Space Wolves, leaving me in last place. It was rough. This was a stripped down version of my core army that I've finally built up to for ITC play, and I feel it points Ted out a lot of weaknesses in my list, specifically the easy deaths of the equally easy to Target Hellblasters, and how little of a second threat the Deathwing pose. So let's be drastic and tear the list down and add in lots more threats, drop the Deathwing, put the Darkshroud back in, and add a second threat from the castle. One threat that is fresh in my mind is the Kataphron Destroyers that absolutely lit me up in my last game, outranging my Hellblasters and making short work of my screens. Battalion 1: Azrael Lieutenant Primaris Ancient 10 Hellblasters 10 Hellblasters 3 Aggressors Darkshroud 5 Scouts, Heavy Bolter 5 Scouts, Missile Launcher 5 Scouts Battalion 2 (Ryza): Tech-Priest Enginseer Tech-Priest Manipulus 8 Kataphron Destroyers 5 Skitarii Rangers 5 Skitarii Rangers The opponent has to deal with one side or the other, and doesn't want to charge either. If they focus on on Hellblasters, one squad will survive, at least, and the Destroyers will still be deleting a unit a tirn. If they focus on the Destroyers, the Hellblasters will get into rapidfire position. I'm gonna test this out on Wednesday. In its current form, I have 9 points left with no real home. Is it worth it for just all the plasma? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355445-hellblasters-wmechanicum-for-more-plasma/ Share on other sites

Brother Casman
I've bumped this over to the Adeptus Astartes forum, rather than Homegrown Rules. MARK0SIAN
Ryza is definitely good for Plasma Specialists but you may also want to consider Agripinna for the Forgeworld. They have a stratagem called fresh converts which lets you bring back a unit of kataphrons, a bit like tide of traitors does for chaos. If your opponent does target them and kill a lot of them then you can just use the Strat and bring them back. The only downsides are that t can only be a unit of 6 max, they have to walk on from the table edge and it will cost 3cp for a unit of 6. It’s expensive but guarantees they’ll be around for at least two turns, three if you get to go first.
