t-dog1996
They strike me as a really solid choice looking at their stats. A 3-man squad puts out 18 S4 shots at 12", which isn't so hard to reach given they have a movement of 16. 6 of those shots are also S5 up to 6". All for 69 points. What do people think? Brother Cruoris
I think they are great. Nice to use for flanking/harassment or late objective grabbing/nabbing (if they live that long). Don't forget you can give the srg a stormbolter, making it 22 shots for 71p. =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355450-scout-bikers/#findComment-5300190 Share on other sites
BluejayJunior
They're generally regarded as one of the better space marine choices because of their firepower. And with the new bolter discipline, they are always rapid firing. The stormbolter is a good choice, but I believe it's an index option, if that makes any difference to you. Some people/areas i know aren't big on using index options. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355450-scout-bikers/#findComment-5300350 Share on other sites

I'm often using TH there :D I second that they are a very good unit: fast, durable (especially in cover). Great for harrassing, obective grabbing and causing havoc in the back lines of the enemy. I use mine in tandem with other scouts on foot, sometimes backing up the Smash Captain if he happens to foray too far on his own. Jolemai
Good choice, if fragile. Use them like you would fast cavalry in WHFB (i.e horse archers). Typically, I'm too aggressive with them so they rarely do what they are capable of... Personally, I go for the still legal Index choice of a combi-weapon on the Sergeant, but I can see the appeal of a dedicated melee weapon - as much as I love the weight of dice from a chainsword/combat blade (Sergeant/unit), having something with a bit more oomph can often tip a battle. There should be a Unit of the Week entry for these in a few weeks' time Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355450-scout-bikers/#findComment-5300483 Share on other sites
Karhedron
Correct. Codex-wise: a Melee weapon or Pistol for the sergeant. I'm often using TH there Given their speed, they do often get into a position where it can be useful. I am also a fan of sprinkling a few dangerous weapons about the army so that my opponent cannot eliminate my anti-tank capability by knocking one or two key units.
