Marshal Valkenhayn
Hey gang. I'm about to start work on a new Khorne force, and plan on converting 3 of my 4 Bloodthrones into Skullcannons and Bloodmasters. This seems to be a fairly common conversion, and I've even found a couple of guides on it, but I can't tell if they're out of date. I figured I'd put my questions here so that another Khorne player can confirm what I know/suspect. Is the Bloodthrone herald the same size as the GW Bloodmaster? Will he mount well on a standard 40 base, or will I need to place him on his throne, and mount the whole thing? Is he too big to use a spare banner arm from a Bloodletter on him? And if so, has anyone tried snipping the chain from his hand, snipping and rotating that arm, then jiggering the banner pole into his fist? Any other ideas for what I can do with the chain arm? Thanks in advance for any help. (PS: written descriptions will be more helpful than pictures. I am totally blind, and don't have anyone around who can describe them to me.) Closet Skeleton
The Skullcannon kit is the Bloodthrone kit, so unless you've already built them there's no 'converting' them. The Rendmaster/herald is in a standing pose so he'll fit on a base, might just need some uneven ground to make the pose look better. You can just trim the metal rim away from the chain grasping hand and he'll have a closed fist. Or you could just cut the whole hand at the bracer and put a bloodletter hand on there. The other option would be to just put him on a juggernaut instead. No idea how big any of the khorne heralds are, just that they're roughly bloodletter sized.
