Johanhgg
My new found dislike of primaris (I’ve bought plenty of primaris, it grieves me that I don’t feel them anymore) has turned my focus towards 30k. I’ve never actually played 30k but I’m well familiar with the 30k-setting (call me crazy but I’ve read the HH-series all books twice) This is my journey to my first 30k-army, which will be V Legiones Astartes. I have a white scars-thread as well in adeptus Astartes thread but since no one besides me is using that particular sub forum I’m moving my white scars here. http://u.cubeupload.com/Johanhgg/F4E4640B0BE44BF394A2.jpeg http://u.cubeupload.com/Johanhgg/F19976CC38144990814B.jpeg Edited March 24, 2020 by Johanhgg 1ncarnadine, Astartes Consul, Fenbain and 9 others 12 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355521-horus-heresy-projects-ultramarines/ Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
What technique do you use for your white, it looks like you have a layer of hard coat on there tying it together? I'm always stuck trying to make the grey and white blend. I'm always stuck trying to make the grey and white blend. Im using oilwashes, the answer lies in oilwashes :) a gloss varnish then black/brown oilwash, after 15 mins i use a cottonpin and white spirits and remove much of the wash, leaving wash in the recesses and as dirt :) Marshal Rohr 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355521-horus-heresy-projects-ultramarines/#findComment-5301830 Share on other sites
Johanhgg
Im aiming for a very basic starting-army, 2 tactical squads in rhinos, and some bike-squads. My biggest concern is that I have so many GW-bikes so I have a hard time justifying buying FW outriders....and I hate painting the GW bikes, but I will paint up 2x3 bike squads. I want to add jet bikes as well and I’m pondering if I should get the FW, kromlech or Puppetswar jetbikes, what you guys think? Thanks a lot! Yes, I’ve found out that I’m more interested in 30k-setting than 40k :) so we’ll see where this goes! I’ve found several people in my hometown who plays 30k, all traitor-players so a loyal army would fit! As I said in the latest post, my biggest headache is the 40k-bikes I have droves of...I don’t like those models but since I have so many I can’t bring myself to buy outriders.....:( Do you have an army-thread in here? Pearson73
As ever, I'm impressed by how quickly you get your marines painted up, I'm looking forward to seeing the Rhinos. I agree with your thoughts about the heresy books,I've read the opening trilogy three times now and am on my second read through of the first fifteen, before pushing through to the rest (needed a refresher before jumping back in). As regards to me having a thread, there will be one coming at some point, but I'm away from home for a while, so my hobby fix is coming through discussion and eBay stockpiling... Yes, its a well-written series of books. I really like the first 6 books and the white scars-books but every single book contributes to the setting! May i ask what your preference of armies is? Loyal or traitor? Aye, the first ones really are good, but then the further I go, the more gems I uncover, I'm hoping to get through them within the year and then move onto the Siege, which promises to be something special. I've got the beginnings of a loyalist Iron Hands force already and am plotting a true-scale project, leaning towards Word Bearers for that, though reading Thousand Sons is swinging me towards the lords of Prospero. Ah ok! I really like the Iron Hands. Too bad the are almost none-appreciated in 40k :( in 30k they seem brutal for real. Im looking forward to see your take on Iron Hands. Damn. Now i want to do an Iron Hands-army. Maybe that is what should become of all of my primaris marines. I have such a hard time deciding in which direction to take my primaris, one day i want to do them all white scars, day after Imperial Fists and now Iron Hands.....its something wrong with me...
