Mordian Glory
Good job on the guardsmen. Are the red balls on their bases supposed to be a plant or flower? Its supposed to be a tuft of desert/badlands scrub. I went for red because i thought it looked more sci-fi. duz_ and walter h 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5556512 Share on other sites
Trickstick
You know, I had never considered using those arms to hold an ammo box like that. I may have to try that myself. Perhaps on a turret stubber or something. Â Looking good as usual. Mordian Glory
Greetings Commanders! Â After a couple of months off from painting my Mordians, I have returned to the 50th Rifles! I tried to feed the hobby addiction with other projects, but it was to no avail and the itch to paint up some humble Guardsmen has finally overwhelmed me once more. Â My initial plans are to paint up some Plasma Gun Specialists and Bolter sgt's, just to help bring the army up a power level, but then to resume the regular 1 squad a week routine. Of course all pictures will be posted here to appease the commissariat. Â For those of you who can't wait to see more pictures of the Mordians, I offer a humble tribute in the form of battle report. No pressure to watch, its just there in case anyone is curious to see what the full Army looks like at this point on the battle field :) Â duz_, WarriorFish, 4CIN87 and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5601378 Share on other sites
Mordian Glory
Greetings Commanders,  As promised the recruitment of the Mordian 50th has recommenced and is back on track! This week I completed 6 additional plasma gun specialists. I normally build a specific unit rather than a group of special weapons, but I felt like I just needed some extra punch that I can add to the army when playing against tougher lists.  All of the models this week are converted Cadian plastic infantry. I used 3 plasma guns from the Heresy era space marine infantry, the MkIII and MKIV marine kits. I combined these with the Grenade Launcher Arms from the Cadian box. First I snipped the GL off leaving just the arm and hand, then I removed the hand from the plasma gun and simply glued the remain plasma gun where the GL had been.  For the other models I used a spare tactical marine plasma gun and 2 spare grav guns. I know guard cant strictly take grav guns but they look really cool and are similar enough to plasma once painted up! I combined these with the flamer arms from the infantry squad. I cut the flamer off just before the trigger and was careful to leave the sling intact. I then did the same thing to the grav/plasma gun and stuck where the flamer used to be.  It was actually a very easy group of conversions and I am really happy with the results!  I am going to start working on adding bolter Sgts to each squad as well. Even with bolters going up to 2 points they are still very cheap and a great upgrade for my infantry squads. If I take 10 of them, they only need to kill 1 intercessors between them and they have their points back! More importantly it allows me to take maximum advantage of my preferred custom regiment trait, Wilderness Survivors and Disciplined Shooters. I have dozens of bolter bits left over from when I built my Black Templar Horde so I should be able to make some really cool variations :)  For next week I will either work on the bolter sgts or a couple of command squads, I feel like every platoon should have a command squad and command chimera for sure.  As always pics below: MedicMike0708, Captain Incompetence, Bjorn Firewalker and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5605663 Share on other sites

Mordian Glory
Greetings Commanders, Â Another slow yet steady and successful week on the painting front for the Modian 50th Rifles! This time I have completed two Standard Bearers for the regiment, both are classic metal models. The first is Colour Sgt Jarren Kell and the other is the old standard bearer from the 4th edition command squad box. Both of these models have been in my collection for over 15 years and I am really happy to have them both finally completed to a good "standard" (forgive the pun!). Â With these chaps ready I can now field a pair of tradition command squads to support my officers. I intend to run both squads with a Flag (got to have a flag for Mordians), Medic (the senior officers personal physician), Musician (battle music is very important) and a Flamer (to purge serious heresy). Â Thats all for this week, I may be focused on other projects for a week or two, but I should still have time to complete a model or two for the 50th. Â Pictures below as usual: duz_, Etheneus, WarriorFish and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5608836 Share on other sites

Mordian Glory
Greetings Commanders, Â Not much painting done this week as things have been very hectic IRL. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to go on to the WintersSEO Youtube for a battle report, the Mordian 50th rifles took on the vile Tyranid Xenos of Hive Fleet Kraken. The video should be put online in next couple of weeks so watch this space. Â In terms of hobby, I focused on putting together the second half of 3rd platoon. I stripped down, rebuilt and replaced broken parts on 3 Infantry Squads and a HWS. The Line Infantry will be armed with a Melta gun and Lascannon each, bringing some much needed heavy firepower to the army. The HWS has got triple autocannon teams, normally I would go for more mortars but I have a soft spot for Autocannons! No images of these at the moment but when they are fully painted I will share the pictures :)Â Â In between work, Winters and restoration, I was able to get painted a old metal Junior Officer model. I always enjoy painting up these classic sculpts and I have actually managed to get my hands on all 6 of the OOP Lt models and I am looking forward to getting them all painted up. (FYI They are always popping up on ebay for a decent price incase anyone was wondering where I got them from). Â That is all for this week, pictures below: Â Arkaniss, MedicMike0708, WarriorFish and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5611840 Share on other sites

Mordian Glory
Greetings Commanders, Â So it has been a month since I last posted. I know I said I was going to be focusing on the Mordians again but I decided to actually complete a project for once in my life so I pushed forward and 100% completed my Bolt Action army :) Â But now I am truly back on the 50th Rifles and I have finished an Infantry squad this week. Nothing too special about these blokes, just another 10 bodies to feed into the grinder. The one interesting thing is that this is the first autocannon I have restored! Â I have another 2 squads with this load out that I plan to work on over the rest of this month and that will be all the line infantry for 3rd platoon. The long term goal is to have all of 3rd platoon finished by the end of the year (including all officers and support troops). Â I can then start the new year with... you guessed it... 4th Platoon! Â The infantry waves just never stop coming :P Â As always pictures below in the spoliers: duz_, Warhead01, Etheneus and 5 others 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5630678 Share on other sites

Mordian Glory
Greetings commanders, Â The recruitment process is back in full swing and I have added another 10 souls to ranks of the penitent Mordian 50th rifles. Hopefully, "the plague" will soon be over and these 10 chaps will have a chance to martyr themselves for the Big E! Â This week I completed another Autocannon/Melta squad, same as last week. Nothing much to report except that the Vox Caster is a fairly special model, he is from the old metal Cadian command squad. What I found quite interesting is the slight design differences between this Vox Caster and the standard plastic infantry box Vox Caster. Not sure if this was an intentional choice by the designers (command squads used to get a Master Vox) or if this was just an earlier design. Â That's all for now, next in the pipeline is the final infantry squad for this platoon. After that its just a couple of characters and the HWS and the platoon will be finished :D Â Pictures below: duz_, GreenScorpion, 4CIN87 and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355531-the-great-mordian-restoration-project/page/8/#findComment-5634983 Share on other sites
