Question about landspeeder tempest

The Scars first used them in M38 which would suggest they are retrofits of existing technology. If they are flyers though, you can take three as a Lord of War using 7th edition Imperial Armor rules.

Edit: It looks like FW narrowed down the list of units to choose from in the LA red book, so this is outdated

In this kind of instance I would never let the 'official' background stop you from getting and building the miniature that you want. They can't say emphatically that, at some point over 250yrs of the Great Crusade and Heresy, some White Scars somewhere didn't try using a land speeder with missile launcher attached?

On that basis I would say go for it! :)

I'll be the devils advocate.

They had Javelins, they didn't need to try this.

Counterpoint: The White Scars were a staggered Legion, I can see some techpriests bodging together a Javelin lite.

There's no restriction on the missiles, just that they're havoc launchers like 90% of what cyclones became. The assault cannon is the big no-no

The Kyzagan variant of the Javelin has a Kheres assault cannon, so one option would be to fit twin Reapers on the Tempest and call it a Kyzagan.

Sure...but there's quite a difference in size between a javelin and speeder. A javelin almost has the same footprint as a rhino, in a game where line of sight, armour facings and obscurment still matters.

My solution would be to replace the ac with something else and just use it as normal speeder with a legal loadout

But it's to light to carry the weight. :)
