t-dog1996
I realise this question has probably been asked ad nauseam but even so... I’ve been spraying some MKIII space marines for my Blood Angels army with Mephiston red spray. Most came out looking fine, but one has this really crusty finish that looks awful. I think I probably held the can too far away when spraying and it dried halfway there. In any case, I want to strip it and try again. For plastic miniatures I’ve been told Dettol works well. However, although these are plastic, they have resin shoulder pads from forge world and multiple sources have suggested that dettol doesn’t agree with resin. I obviously don’t want to lose detail. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative products? Just so you know I’m based in the UK so as far as branded products go I can only get things available here. No Foes Remain
I use this stuff, works wonders on plastic models. Just buy a tub and put the model in there and leave it (had a contemptor in there for a few months and its fine [i should really sort that]) and according to reddit it works on resin as well. Arkhanist
Another vote for biostrip 20 in the UK, works a treat on plastic and resin. I dip models fully then put them aside in a plastic tub so I don't contaminate the main one with paint. Quick scrub with a toothbrush and they're 99% clean; you can scrub more aggresively for the last little bit of primer in crevices or give em another round. I do only leave em an hour or two before scrubbing clean with water. Much less smelly than dettol, to boot! Another recommendation that's half the price is wilko paint and varnish stripper that also works decently on plastic and resin, but not tried it personally yet.
