Invasion beam question

Recommended Posts

Good morning everyone. I have been using a night scythe in my list as a troop delivery system to the back of the battlefield and I just want to see if you guys understand this the same way I do.

So I've been putting 2 squads into the home tomb world to get teleported in to the night scythe. Now I'm using enhanced invasion beams to bring 2 squads out instead of one but the issue in question is what happens when the scythe gets destroyed.

So I had first turn and flew my night scythe right to the other side of the field. My opponent shot it down in first turn so I used emergency invasion and enhanced invasion. Afterwards I had to consider though because enhanced invasion beams says whenever you use the invasion beam ability but by using emergency invasion beams does that supercede the invasion beams ability? I suppose it could be argued that by using the emergency invasion beams stratagem it could take the place of the invasion beam ability.

Just wanted to see what your take on this was. Thanks

What NTaW said. The wording is the unit ability not the stratagem. It’s unfortunate.

I do wish we had more access to things to bring units in from the tomb world. Like a DS stratagem or an additional transport unit. Its one of the Necrons unique abilities that isn’t properly taken advantage of.

It’s a gamble putting 2 units aside with only one way to bring them in.

Yea that's what I was afraid of. I tried a list with 2 scythes and it worked well. I'm finding it really hard to protect units like destroyers long enough to make them worth putting in my lists. Also getting lychguard into a good position in the back is nice.

For Destroyers, you could consider a Nephrekh Auxiliary Detachment and the Translocation Crypt stratagem, though now you're still spending 2CP now they're in reserve proper. For the Lychguard, I haven't really found anything better than using the Veil on an Overlord to whip them across the field.
