From the Eye to the Vortex, we rise anew!

So, my chaotic siblings, the ETL is upon us once more!

The denizens of this illustrious forum have a fairly solid record in the event, being three times Primus Inter Pares and only being pipped last year by the mustering of every son of Sanguinius Baal could muster. Every son of Baal, and they only just got us. Lets leave the lot of them eating warpdust this year shall we?

For those of you wondering exactly what I'm on about, the ETL is a motivational painting event run by the excellent Captain Semper. In it, everyone vows up to 20,000 points worth of models towards their chosen faction and whichever faction paints the most (adjusted for participation) wins the coveted Primus Inter Pares banner for their sig. Last years event is here if you want to get a general sense of how things go down rules wise.

So, if you've got a Chaos project you've been looking for a reason to kick off, join us! We provide motivation, commiseration, banter and of course dancing!

Personally, I've got roughly 2k of Black Legion to throw in this year. A modest vow compared to previous years, but the sudden attack of unemployment stops me going further and the spares case is running out of stuff. What are my fellow Chaos Lords bringing to the muster?

Also, a general reminder: don't vow Cultists. They're fiddly, take forever, sap your will to live and are horribly points inefficient. Save them for the Call of Chaos.

While I spend quite a bit of my hobby time on Necromunda these days, I also want to finally get my Death Guard going. So this ETL is just perfect for me. I hope to stay motivated through all of it - but I am a slow painter, so don't expect any miracles. I would rather vow conservatively and finish my stuff than get overly excited and let the Dark Gods down!

My first vow will be primed tomorrow: Lord Felthius and the Tainted Cohort.

One Lord of Contagion with Manreaper and three Blightlord Terminators, one with Plaguespewer, one with Combibolter and Balesword, one with Combibolter and Bubotic Axe.

244 points if I counted correctly.

There is lots more in my Death Guard collection though, (almost) all at most primed. And there is an awesome Chaos Knight kit coming...

Let's say you make your actual vows here in the Chaos forum, but feel like showing support to say GSC as well. You can make an Out Of Competition vow for the GSC, which won't be counted towards their points but you'll get credit for.

Looks like its come at an opportune time. In about two months I've got what's becoming an annual campaign happening down in Warhammer World which I need to hear up for. I just started painting a squad of CSM so I feel like they're disqualified but at least I've nailed down a scheme for some Night Lords. At the very least though I've got a Master of Execution alongside a squad of five observers awaiting priming. There's also two squads of Havocs I need to pick up from my local GW but they certainly won't be the last things I'll pick up.

In Midnight Clad I stand for Chaos!

I'm in, supporting Team Chaos in some form this year, waiting to see how the new Codex Chaos Knights is handled. I've got 10 Berzerkers and a Chaos Lord primed from Excessus' Tempus Belli but I may go w/o the Knights of I'm forced to pick between forums or books, simply because I've got about twice as many points ready for paint.

Good advice from Dragonlover -this event is a nice way to push yourself to paint stuff up but big blobs of similar models (cultists) can be pretty annoying to go for unless you're really disciplined or used to batch painting - pick something you can enjoy and be satisfied completing. It's better to do a manage chunk than fail something unrealistic, both for your long term hobby enjoyment and for the event.

I've got about 2000pts of renegade space marines burning a hole on my desk, just itching for ETL to start. I'll be moving house halfway through the event, which might disrupt things a bit, but can't wait to get stuck in.

Sounds great, but my advice would be to vow conservatively. Moving house always gets more complicated than you anticipate and lasts longer than you want. Don't get even more stressed due to some painting challenge.

Thanks for the tip, I'm hoping to get the bulk of it painted before I have to pack it all away for the move, but yes, I'll be splitting it up into smaller bows to start with.

Good to see this level of enthusiasm this early, here's hoping it continues.

Also I just remembered the fully unpainted Betrayal at Calth I've got sitting in a cupboard that I need to decide what to do with, that might get thrown in this year.

Well my to do list atm looks like this...

Finish Fabius conversion.

Finish Greater Possessed conversion.

Finish Daemon Prince conversion.

Build a gaint Chaos Spawn.

Build Spawn based on the Edvard/Andy? organism from The Thing.

Build Spawn based on the 'Baby' from The Void.

Build Daemonettes.

Might also do another Fabius or a Medic/Exalted Champ based on Dr Satan from House of 1000 Corpses...

I'll try to support my favourite faction aswell, no promises though. Work's keeping me really busy atm...

My contributions would consist of ten marines, a jump lord and two rhinos, putting me at about 395 points.

Oh, and if Egghead Miniatures happens to restock their Horus Lupercal bits, I'll throw in Abaddon the Despoiler aswell.
