Brother Tyler Posted May 17, 2019 Share Posted May 17, 2019 The leopard skin has featured in most of the official artwork for Sanguinius, including the 2004 version showing Horus vs. the Emperor and the John Blanche artwork from the Horus Heresy Sketchbook, Horus Heresy Vol 1: Visions of War (2004), and The Horus Heresy: Collected Visions (2007 and expanded in 2018). Was it just an artist choice or lore wise is there some leopard like big cat native to Baal? from Malevolence: Leopard pelt was a trophy from a first (or one of the first) battle after Sanguinius' reunification with his legion, it was taken as a symbol of his unity with IX legion.
