Dhx711
Hey folks. Does anyone know why the animal pelt was painted “leopard” like? Was it just an artist choice or lore wise is there some leopard like big cat native to Baal? Gederas
Yeah, there's a really iconic image of Sanguinius holding a daemon's head (later explained to be Kyriss the Perverse), and he's got a leopard pelt on his left shoulder in it. Jolemai
It was a gift from Russ. Basically, he thought Sanguinius would get cold in space, what with being from a desert and having no beard or meat on his bones. Brother Tyler
The leopard skin has featured in most of the official artwork for Sanguinius, including the 2004 version showing Horus vs. the Emperor and the John Blanche artwork from the Horus Heresy Sketchbook, Horus Heresy Vol 1: Visions of War (2004), and The Horus Heresy: Collected Visions (2007 and expanded in 2018). Or something like that.
