I just took AdMech to BAO and was the best result for our faction there. I officially came out 3-3, though I actually was 4-2 since they paired me against my teammate in Game 5, and I was heavily favored, so I decided to handicap that match; lost because of that, but no regrets. We were both out of the running for Top 8, and it was definitely my most enjoyable game of the tournament. We both went on to win our Game 6s.

Some advice for you:

1. Cut 1 Infiltrator, 1 Ironstrider, and the 2 Arc Rifles to put a third Icarus Crawler in. It's very easy to overinvest in Infiltrators. Four Ironstriders is the magic number to down Eldar aircraft. Meanwhile, you need to be able to reliable down Eldar jetbikes. (Singing Spears are the real threat. Kill as many of the Warlocks as you can.)

2. Against armies that focus fire on your Breachers, they will die. And there are very few cases where 5++ and resurrect is worthwhile, though I ran Mars and always had Shroudpsalm just about, so maybe the story will be different for you.

3. Try to squeeze a Manipulus in or your Tau matchup is going to be pretty tough. You need to outrange him as much as possible. The Manipulus can also help your Drills and Priests move quickly across the battlefield.

Here was my list:

Mars Battalion Detachment - 1310
Cybernetica Cohort (-1 CP)

HQ - 280
1x Belisarius Cawl - Warlord
1x Tech-Priest Manipulus - Transonic Cannon, Relic: Raiment of the Techno-Martyr

Troop - 270
3x Kataphron Breacher - 3x Heavy Arc Rifle, 3x Arc Claw
3x Kataphron Breacher - 3x Heavy Arc Rifle, 3x Arc Claw
3x Kataphron Breacher - 3x Heavy Arc Rifle, 3x Arc Claw

Heavy Support - 440
4x Kastelan Robot - 12x Heavy Phosphor Blaster

Fast Attack - 320
4x Ironstrider Ballistarii - 4x Twin Cognis Lascannon

Graia Battalion Detachment - 210

HQ - 60
1x Tech-Priest Enginseer
1x Tech-Priest Enginseer

Troop - 150
5x Skitarii Vanguard - 5x Radium Carbine
5x Skitarii Vanguard - 5x Radium Carbine
5x Skitarii Ranger - 5x Galvanic Rifle
5x Skitarii Ranger - 5x Galvanic Rifle

House Krast Super-Heavy Auxiliary Detachment - 478

Lord of War - 478
1x Knight Crusader - Avenger Gatling Cannon, Rapid-Fire Battle Cannon, Heavy Flamer, 2x Heavy Stubber

Total: 1998 points
13 CP (-3)

I will probably cut my Knight for Dragoons, as you have done. They are definitely a more pro-active counter-charger.

So gotta say I disagree on the Servitor Maniple being not worth it. At a tournament the other week mine tanked crazy amounts of fire power. A 2+ in cover (Shroudpsalm) and 3W each makes them rather tanky, then a revive and a heal each turn keeps them topped up.

The trick with the Servitor Maniple is to keep the Warlord in between a few squads of them to keep trucking.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I made a few changes on the list, I took out the infiltrators, some dragoons and the servitors, made a vanguard detachment of Grey Knights with 2 grand masters dreadknights and 3 servitor squads, cause I can still use them with the servitor maniple, and this way I have acess to the GK strats, and 2 more CP then the other list

Now I have to get some servitors... Does anyone now a good alternative to the gw ones?

Ive stil lyet to come across 3rd party servitors I like, however theres a good kitbash servitor thread on this forum a few pages back thats worth checking out:

 http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352988-kit-bash-servitor-ideas/

My favourite are the genestealer cult/kataphron mashups (and looking at your list im guessing you're covered for spare kataphron parts already!)

I think the Servitor Maniple is worth it, but the squad size makes a world of difference. I don't think in most competitive environments 2 man squads will work. I think you need at least 5 if not 6. No less than 5 though... it's too easy to wipe them, and they become a priority.

2 man squad?

made a game test  today against Ultras, guilly, lots of intercessors, hellblastaers and plasma inceptors

i went second and he deployed agressively... it was the table quarters deploy, i deployed all the way in the back and he didnt had range in the 1st turn

i won in turn 3, he had no veicules, so i found myself hiting primaris with lascanons... lol

Breachers are great, very durable and can hurt alot, specially against primaris

dreadknights are just awesome! started with one on the board hiddin, then used Gate of Infinity and teleported to hes backlines and cleread an objective, turn 2 the other one drops behinde some ruins in the middle of the board and with Astral Aiming i started killing interssesors out of line of sight :)

he got cought betwin my gunline that he couldnt reach, and the dreadknight he couldnt see

now i wanna test it against an heavy anti-tank list, didnt test much my las chicken, they were always out of enemy range... but in general i think i have a balanced list

Congrats on the win, may it continue into the tournament for you :smile.:

Aye breachers really excel against elite infantry. My mates deathguard army fell to bits infront of them. S6 -2AP and d3 damage is just great. My favourite unit at the moment, I run 2 units of 6 :smile.:

Also sounds like the dreadknights fill the admech 'mobility issue' really well too.
