Hive Fleet Formica

Starting up Tyranids as something different to paint in between working on my Doom Eagles. This is the hive fleet my Eagles primarily fight against and I haven't decided on a color scheme yet.

Done up two quick test models and want to know which you guys like better? Any suggestions would help like switcing a color or changing a color, etc.

The non-test models will probably have a gloss on some parts and be better painted. Thinking thats the base style I'll do too.

Oh man, I've seen a lot of 'Red/black OC' nids before (not throwing blame, it's just pretty common and some communities I'm part of reaaaally decry the red black combo). but I'll admit I'm pretty into the green and yellow.

I just think you might be able to take it a little further: really pull that yellow from a spot colour to something close to a 'trim' or proper secondary sort, maybe dragging it back along the underside of the longated head, the tail, maybe add a few little dapples and spots between the two using brown or something.  I just haven't seen it much and think it's a pretty great look for the nids. :)

i would go for the green f!

hive fleet behemoth. you dont want to limit yourself to using just their rules because of color scheme. i know not all players are like that but there are some that exist out there.

your green looks sickly, in a good way. it really fits with the nids aesthetic.

suggestions:

make the yellow a bit more organic, as in, drag i up a bit into the head instead of it being a straight line between yellow and green. maybe like vikes said, add some spots, or like on my nids, make some random joints/ends yellow. if you airbrush, this will be super easy. just do a light spray of yellow over one or two spots to add some randomnees and organicness. just some thoughts.

I completely agree with both your ideas and I'll add more yellow going underneath the head and in other spots too. The brown molt spots is a very good idea too.

Now I can focus on the green/grey/yellow scheme and put my attention fully into making it look good.

Thank you for the help

Ok so I tried a few things and molting browns kept looking bad, I'm probably doing a terrible job at it but I tried some yellow and it seems better? Kept the grey the same will clean it up alittle to remove wash pooling and gloss it for a little shine

wow! gotta say, that elbow and knee joints look awesome!

you have an amazing scheme going. good job!

That looks pretty cool. Like it with the yellow being more prominent.

Really??!! Awesome. I'll commit to this scheme then and probably make it more organically bug like overtime.
