Reigart
I wanted to create some accountability and focus to my 40k. I started playing 40k in 3rd edition stopped in 5th and started right before 8th. Previously, painting was always the worst part of the hobby for me. However, after going to Adepticon's team tournament, I vowed to get better - as my team had ambitious goals. This past year, my team won Best Appearance at Adepticon's Team Tournament, primarily due to my teammates' obsession (see: Thicker than Blood). In preparing and playing for Adepticon, I actually got some enjoyment in painting. This blog will hopefully create some momentum. I'm still seeing what forge world(s) and styles I like with Ad Mech. I fell in love with a Stygies scheme from TheApatheticFish on YouTube. The contrasting colors got me. The only tweak I made was the gold. I went for a darker, more brass-like look. Picture of Vanguard and Rangers: First thing is taking advantage of ETL. Here's my first vow - a Dunecrawler with 2 weapon options. Magos Takatus
Yea buddy now you’ll have a legion of people pestering you, not just me. Hi! :D Those are some really nice Skitarii. I look forward to seeing the Onager in that paint scheme. Reigart
Deadlines motivate me! I did a base coat with many thin layers of paint. Now I just added the first level of shading. Despite some of the accent colors I will use, my gaming group is very much into Grim Dark for our appearance. Given that we team tournaments, it's important to tone down the inherent vibrancy of paints. Reigart
Made it with an hour to spare! As I mentioned, my group tends to kike the grim dark aesthetic. I added more shading. I added thin layers of agrax to the vents and piping. And also around the gears in the legs. I wanted a dirty industrial feel. Vel'Cona
Lovely finish (especially the basing), and grats on getting it done in time! What's next on the list? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356492-acquisition-at-all-costs-reigarts-ad-mech-blog/#findComment-5380841 Share on other sites

Reigart
Lovely finish (especially the basing), and grats on getting it done in time! What's next on the list? :)That’s what I’m trying to decide. Options are: DUNECRAWLER: liked the dunecrawler and I have another, but it’s missing some bits so I’ll need search eBay. RANGERS: I should probably get 2 more 5 man squads of rangers for a fully painted battalion. KASTELAN My problem right now is if I need a secondary scheme for mixing forgeworlds. I don’t know if I’ll do that...the idea of having mass plasma in troops is nice. Also a Ryza plasma destroyer ball might be interesting or Agripinaa Breacher fresh converts too (especially with new Blackstone dude). I also need to figure out if I like Stygies or a mix of Stygies and Mars for competitive. I’ll probably have to play test that before going too overboard. I also have electro priests which would almost always be Stygies for the move, but I’m not set on the skin color I’d use for them. I’m really curious about Iron Hands. Before Space Marine Codex 8.2 came out (and before the Skorpius), I was looking for indirect fire options for ITC formats. I had liked the idea of Thunderfire Cannons. You get a techmarine and range. Now with 8.2, I’m really interested because I’ve been playing around with the idea of a mechanicum-focused joint force.
