Zephaniah Adriyen
Exactly as the title. I'm picking up an old metal Daemon Prince veeeery soon, but the pictures clearly show it's got some greenstuff "work" on it, effectively serving the same purpose as glue. What's the best way to take it off? Can I just scrape it off with a hobby knife or something?
Greenz
You can try giving the model a Dettol bath for a few days. I find it tends to loosen the greenstuff whenever I’ve soaked models, and you should be able to peel most of it away. Then whatever bits are left over, use a dental pick, or a metal wire brush to remove the tough bits that are stuck in details Just make sure you’re wearing gloves. Dettol is an antiseptic, so it won’t harm you. But it will dry your skin out a bit, and the paint will stain your fingers for a few days Zephaniah Adriyen 1 Back to top
Brother-Chaplain Kage
Generally, yeah, you can just pull it off. If you're having problems with it, paint strippers like Simple Green will make it swell and get rubbery after a number of hours. *oops, was ninja'd and it didn't show a new post while I was typing* Oxydo and Zephaniah Adriyen 2 Back to top
jkoczan42
You can also try to freeze the model. The green stuff and metal have different expansion rates, and it will make any super glue brittle and easy to crack apart. Greenz 1 Back to top
ShinyRhino
If the previous owner used superglue to adhere the GS to the metal, a soak in acetone will dissolve the super glue and the GS will fall off. Slave to Darkness
^^This. I still strip minis with nail polish remover and it softens greenstuff nicely so you can just pick it off. Zephaniah Adriyen 1 Back to top
