Hey guys,

Been reading alot of the lore recently and seems we have had it a bit tough. I am proud to throw my forces into the defence of Baal!

Thought I would introduce my Blood Angels army and see what everyone thought:

Currently waiting for the new contrast paints to arrive tomorrow to start work on some Primaris reinforcements.

Cheers

That’s a good looking force you’ve got there! :tu:

If I may be so bold, might you be interested in putting those Primaris you mention forward in the ETL?

No pressure though

Thanks all, I think the original plan was to re-create the 3rd Company. My favourite character is Captain Tych, who has served me well in recent games (survived a full storm raven firing at him). But that plan fell away over the years and I just kept buying models, from the space hulk terminators to all of our fantastic last releases they just kept coming.

This isn't my complete collection there are more models to finish in my home office too! :wacko.:

I have just sprayed my next batch to paint and these will be going in my first ever vow this week. (hope contrast paints okay? excited to try these out).

Thanks for the comments guys, here is my progress so far on my first vow:

Got to say I have enjoyed using the contrast paints (only on the red and boltguns) it does feel weird painting with these new techniques though.

I really like them, they do take a bit of getting used to though. Those Reivers where undercoated the old fashioned way btw.

The white contrast I put over Corax white spray for the apothecary and I really like the finished look, it is a very slight grey but highlights well and as I hate painting white its perfect. Once I finish the apothecary I will get a side by side photo with a tradition painted one so you can see.

The red is really nice, I put it over Grey Seer base but found that two coats of the Red make the colour pop a little more. You do have to watch out for pooling on the model though, shoulder pads and primaris legs seem really bad for this. Any mistakes you can just re-base and then cover over with the contrast again so that's nice and easy.

It is a timesaver, yes, but I agree with a lot of the pro painters who reviewed them, they are a great tool in your box. I will use them to base the red and then switch to a more traditional layer approach afterwards. Due to my nerve damage at the moment, I really struggle with the fine line of edge highlighting so the contrast paints have really helped me get back into painting for the moment.

I also enjoy using them on the brown pouch's and bags and the black on bolt guns (I hate painting bolt guns!), they get nice results and things like this do help save time.

I would recommend trying them if you haven't had the chance yet.

Managed to take the new Primaris out for a spin just before Christmas, if you ever play against me you will normally notice my abnormally high number of 1's that I roll. However, luck smiled on me in this overwatch image above, cutting down many Wyches and surviving all their attacks before promptly wiping them off the board all in one swoop.
