TheFinisher4Ever
Hey all! I've never done a progress thread before so since I finally started painting my golden boys, I figured I'd give it a shot! Let me know if I need to change or add anything. https://imgur.com/gallery/ffRRlxk So I wanted to do my Custodes with blue as opposed to red. My fluff justification is that they changed the red to blue when out on campaign with Guilliman. I had the Ixion Hale painted up as a commission by a buddy of mine. Everything else is my attempt to match that model. Let me know what you think! Zephaniah Adriyen
You don't even need a justification, really. There's official alternate Custodes schemes with black for most of the main body color, or black capes/tabards. TheFinisher4Ever
Looks great like the blue! What colour is it? What else is on the building /painting table? The blue is a Kantor blue base with Teclis and Lothern blue highlights on the infantry. Next up on the list will be my Allarus captain and a Caladius. Then I'm gonna probably hit some bikes. Easy or difficult to paint? The reason I'm asking is I'm considering building a Custodes list myself. duz_
Models look great so does the Telemon Be awesome if you could embed the pics straight in your thread though! :tu: Zeph' the GW plastic Custodes are pretty easy to put together, theyre really nice kits As for the FW stuff the Caladius and Telemon were fairly easy too, I'm not sure about the others though Zephaniah Adriyen 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356697-thefinisher4evers-custodes-in-progress/#findComment-5336545 Share on other sites

I made an album so I can try and put the pictures directly here so let's try it out! Zeph; I have found that the Custodes models are fairly easy to put together and far easier to paint than I originally feared they would be. It really helps that they are pretty large models. Edit: It worked! I'll add the other pictures below then. Kenzaburo
Hey Finisher, great models! Have you considered joining some of us in the ETL VII? At my current rate of painting I'll be able to get quite a bit done by September as well. You're a skilled painter. The Custodes' gold and navy blue armor look great. Thank you! I'm very happy with the blue as well. TheFinisher4Ever
I decided to join the ETL with my Custodes. So looks like I've nailed down all of the things I'll be working on for the next 2 months. I'm hoping to get a bunch done tonight and tomorrow so I'll hopefully be able to show off some progress pictures Sunday. Zephaniah Adriyen
Another question for you. Do Sagittarius Guard have 40k rules, or are they just for Age of Darkness? TheFinisher4Ever
Another question for you. Do Sagittarius Guard have 40k rules, or are they just for Age of Darkness? The Saggitarum do indeed have 40k Beta rules. All of the FW Custodes units that have models have 40k beta rules with the exception of Valdor. The rules are on the Warhammer Community site for free. TheFinisher4Ever
Big update! I've gotten quite a bit of work done since my last post. Let's start of with my Allarus shield Captain. I'm pretty happy with him, though I may redo the filigree on the back of his cape in gold. I'm not sure yet. Next up is my Achillus dreadnought. And finally, I just finished up my Saggitarum. These guys definitely look better in person. Without the blue cloth or red handles of the other models, they look a bit flat in the photos. But in person, the red gems and the blue glow on adrathic destructor really pop. duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356697-thefinisher4evers-custodes-in-progress/#findComment-5364850 Share on other sites

TheFinisher4Ever
Welp, it has been far too long since I've last posted so I need to finish posting all of my ETL models from last summer, then show off my current project for an Escalation League I'm part of. For starters, here are the Dawneagles I painted up for the ETL. Then we've got my Wardens from ETL. And finally the finished group shots of my ETL models. At the beginning of the year, my FLGS decided to do a New Year New Army Escalation league that's 1 round per month, 250 more points per round. All of your models must be newly painted to be eligible for prizes. Well my life was pretty hectic at the beginning with my wife and I looking for a new house and all, so I decided to commit to painting as few models as possible. Hence, Custodes. So here is my 2000 points of Custodes I'll be painting and playing in our escalation league. Of coarse, with everything on lockdown due to coronavirus, I'll have the entire thing painted before we even got week 3. I'll post more pictures as I finish stuff. Let me know if you want more pictures of anything. duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356697-thefinisher4evers-custodes-in-progress/#findComment-5504341 Share on other sites

TheFinisher4Ever
Great looking army and nice list The blue and gold works well :tu: Will you be adding any more units? Thank you! I won't be adding any more for this league, and I'll probably be taking a break to start painting some sisters after this. But I'll hop back in at some point to get more painted. At this point I'll have all of my vehicles painted except for my Orion and a couple of Coronus' so I'll be working on more infantry next undoubtedly. TheFinisher4Ever
I got some new stuff painted over the weekend. Getting closer to finishing up my 2000 points for my Escalation League. First up, we've got my Terminator Vexilla. I'm going to give this guy the Oblitarum in the league. He's not a very competitive choice but I think his banner came out amazing. Next up, I finished a squad of Allarus. I think they came out wonderfully. One of them is missing his hair, but the wife and I are currently moving so I can't get to my bitz box right now to find a suitable replacement. And finally, I finished up one of my 2 Pallas speeders. Pretty simple paint job that came out decent. librisrouge, Wrath of Bruinen, duz_ and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356697-thefinisher4evers-custodes-in-progress/#findComment-5516865 Share on other sites
TheFinisher4Ever
I've been working hard painting stuff over the last 2 weeks and I've made quite a bit of progress. I should have the last remaining units of bikes finished this weekend. Then I can take some group shots. I'll probably have that up on Sunday. First off, we've got a shield Vexilla. Then we've got a Calladius with Blaze Cannon. Shield Captain on Bike is next. I really enjoyed kitbashing this guy. I've got a second one in the paint queue that has a a shield instead of a Vexilla on the front of the bike and a different spear. And then comes mr sword and board dread! One of my favorite models but I'm still not thrilled with his stats on the table. Being strength 7 with that massive sword seems absurd to me. I'm pretty sure it's the weakest dreadnought melee weapon in the game. After that, we've got 3 Aquilons. Opposite of the dreadnought above, I'm not super thrilled with the models but the rules are good! They could use another special rule to make them unique, as could most FW stuff tbh, but still a good unit. And yes, I know some of their topknots broke but I won't be able to find my super glue till we move this weekend lol And last but not least, 3 more Sagittarum. I love these guys. Great models, great rules. Love em. Also, I will never paint a face without contrast paints again. It's so easy and looks great. duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356697-thefinisher4evers-custodes-in-progress/#findComment-5520963 Share on other sites
