Johanhgg
Since lamenters yellow is gone, i wonder if anyone of you fine people know a good replacement? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356724-lamenters-yellow/ Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
Tried the yellow Air clear paint yet (name escapes me ATM)? I haven’t been able to get them, but thinned out more, those may be good enough. Arkhanist
Since lamenters yellow is gone, i wonder if anyone of you fine people know a good replacement? Warcolours transparent yellow should be a drop in replacement according to my paint equivalence app. Citadel sigismund yellow air clear should be quite glaze-like with a brush, but by eyeball I think it will be a lighter, less orange yellow. A closer citadel equivalent looks like it might be iyanden yellow contrast, thinned with contrast medium or lahmian medium to a glaze consistency. (GW now use thinned contrast paint for their glazing video demo) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356724-lamenters-yellow/#findComment-5335200 Share on other sites

Stoic Raptor
If you'd like to know how to perfectly emulate GW glazes, they can be formulated from Vallejo inks: https://youtu.be/2Qa6a6tqN_o https://youtu.be/zPRV1y_c6zE Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356724-lamenters-yellow/#findComment-5335578 Share on other sites
Arkhanist
OK, I know vallejo's game line was formulated to match the previous GW range, but that's spookily close. MithrilForge
i wonder if you could try the new iyanden contrast...mixed with a bit more contrast medium .... or Cassandora with the contrast medium?.. Imren
Thanks guys for answering! What do you think about tamiya yellow clear or vallejo transparent yellow? If you use airbrush then I highly recommend Tamiya clear yellow. I suggest you thin it down since it is quite thick (paint to X20A thinner ratio of 1:1). Tamiya clear paints are very smooth with airbrush. I airbrush my Alpha legion with Tamiya clears (blue and green) over Vallejo metal color and I'm quite happy with the results. Stoic Raptor
From my own experiments, none of the contrast paints are a match for the old glazes - it was an empty promise and a tactic that GW used to drive sales of the new line. They have their uses, but replacing the existing glazes is not among them. Johanhgg
Thanks alot guys for answers! I tried with contrast but as is said; it cant replace the glazes. I bought vallejo colours and will make my own glaze Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356724-lamenters-yellow/#findComment-5337560 Share on other sites

blackbabyjesus
This video on YouTube shows you how to make the glazes; https://youtu.be/2Qa6a6tqN_o They're all a pretty good match. Arkhanist
I did see a video of contrast paint mixed with lahmian medium that looked a lot more glaze like. Full on working on ETL atm, but might give it a try on the palette at least given I have both contrast yellows and lamenters, but then I only use the pre made glazes for small areas. The couple of old vallejo inks I have are rubbish washes, so good to know they work nicer as glazes!
