31st Praetorian Heavy Infantry ‘The Levellers’

That is surprisingly effective.  My only suggestion is put some of those reinforcing strips (like those on the bottom and the front "shields") on the back, 1 each half way between the shields - that would give the back a bit more detail and break up the large flat area.

Fair point Dr, I wasn’t too worried about the back but I suppose it would have riveted strips there too. I’ll add some when I make a few more of these things.

Somehow they look slightly art-deco, which is certainly not a style I’d put in the 40k universe!

Indeed, slow and steady not only wins the race but is the Guard way ;) As long as you're making progress that's what really counts. It'll all be worth it when you've got your first squad ready for battle! :D

Update!

I added epaulets to the infantry squad, and I can’t help thinking they would look better in white. I’ll try it on a test model sometime.

The Rough Riders, currently the headless horsemen...

And a Commissar Lord (wip) who looks suitably Praetorian.

And also, because I have more time than money, progress on the Lady Sybil, my cardboard Leman Russ Punisher.

Uses thick greyboard and pva for the structure, strengthened with shellac. The details are in cereal box card. Rivets are a mix of pva/talc and need a few more coats. Not sure on the best way to make a swivelling turret though!
