Guest
I know everyone takes 2 shield/axe dreads, however I wanted to break away from the generic. So was wondering what would be better, wulfen or one of the 3 variants of terminators? The cataphractii seem to slow keep up, but could take the punishment. They could also have a melee weapon and a bolters to lay down fire while the move in. The indominus, doesn't offer the same protection unless I take a SS but then have to give up a melee or ranged weapon, also would have a hard time keeping up. The tartaros could possibly keep up, but has no defense go protect bjorn. Finally wulfen SS/TH seems the Best defense and melee offense, along with good movement. However no ttue ranged oprions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356802-bjorn-escorts/ Share on other sites
PeteySödes
I've been using a Leviathan actually. It's base is massive so its easy to juke Bjorn into "not the closest" and nobody wants to charge its 2 flamers when Bjorn is 6" away either. Dude also benefits HEAVILY from Bjorn's aura. Bjorn, an Iron Priest on wolf with the Levi as the point of the mighty ducks flying V has been really fun and effective. Karhedron
Any unit used for this duty needs to be durable so an Invulnerable save is good. They also want to be able to keep up with Bjorn if you planning to melee with him. I think that Wulfen look the best match of the units you list. I actually go the other way and look for units that benefit from Bjorns reroll aura. I run a unit of Hellblasters. Not as durable as the above but they pack a real wallop while Bjorn lumbers into range. Here is Bjorn's usual band of brothers including an Iron Priest to keep then old fella going. TiguriusX
I run a list designed around this concept The best defense for bjorn is a blocking unit out of LOS (i.e., cant be removed by shooting) i use infiltrators and eliminators and hide them in bldgs and ruins The 2nd best option is a leviathan but it does die to all the anti knight tools out there. i found hiding the leviathan behind los blocking terrain and only barely peeking out to fire the best way to field it Finally terminators with SS are the next best blocker...even better than shield dreads. They shrug off small arms fire and a powerful anti tank gun kills 1 man at most Last must have is a bodyguard HQ with armor of russ. bjorn is dead if a smash captain comes in. the armor of russ will let bjorn go first and bjorn can basically kill any single unit in the game i prefer an iron priest on a bike for this job and a tau cold star commander gives 0 f***s about your defense and will likely assassinate Bjorn Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356802-bjorn-escorts/#findComment-5337179 Share on other sites
Rune Priest Jbickb
Rhinos and Razorbacks are my go to since the nerf to blizzard shields. Tgey are pretty tough and not bad for the points Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356802-bjorn-escorts/#findComment-5337292 Share on other sites

Tgey are pretty tough and not bad for the points I have enjoyed using "throw away" rhinos. I've not used them as Bjorn blockers though, could be good. Guest
Thanks everyone, I think that I will use my primaris-wulfen. Rhino's would be nice, but I lack the models, and normal SM. Blackwinter
I use 3x storm shield and chain sword TWC. They always stand for 2-3 rounds. For 150 pts they are doing the job for me. Cpt.Danjou
In my gaming group, there has been a build up of hatred towards my Razorback/Bjorn Combo, Somehow the razorback survives longer than shield dreads. Personally i like twin Storm cannons, they just shred stuff. Its also one of the only things i feel comfortable splitting fire. Each gun is just so nasty. Mathwise its the best choice too, though grav is pretty great for fun games. Those guns are hilarious (and cool looking). I feel like the CC options are not really good for us, Axe dreads just do it better. Lord Ragnarok
Yeah, i was leaning on the storm cannons after looking at some stats. I may need to do some swizzling and buy one. Karhedron
Yup, mathematically Stormcannons outshoot Grav flux bombards unless you are shooting at a 30-strong blob (which basically means Turn 1 only). Even then, SCs still have the range edge over GFBs. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/356802-bjorn-escorts/#findComment-5338923 Share on other sites
