Stalker-Pattern Intercessors

What was said was that Stalkers can't go to Str 5 as it would displace heavy bolter equivalent weapons.

When it comes to Primaris infantry options, I'm not convinced that's actually a likely outcome. A Heavy 1, 36", Str 5, AP-2, D1 rifle won't suddenly remove the value of Inceptors.

I won’t speculate on how obsolete the Inceptor’s Assault Bolter would be one but the -2AP certainly would make it a steal at 17 pts with that range and strength. At that point you would have to up the cost again.

Mathematically it's still functionally worse against GEQ and MEQ in average damage than the bolt rifle, so the real advantage is extra range. So maybe that isn't even enough of a buff...

I wish they had the same profile as the stalker pattern guns the Deathwatch have (iirc they basically were able to pick our characters but lacked the mortal wound on a 6 that for real snipers get)

If they got range mitigation in kill team that would be cool as heck to have designated marksmen in your squad (though a shame you couldn't have a heavy Bolter guy...)

I'd probably just make them Heavy 2 and shift the cost up 1-2 points.

Greater range, greater armour piercing, but less accuracy when you move and costs a bit extra. Solid trade off.

Would become the go to weapon for DW Intercessors in a squad with an Aggressor. Not really a problem given how well it compares with Storm Bolter vets, which opens up more choice outside the meta pick.

Now to fix the auto...

Auto-Bolt fix:

Make it Assault 3 or Assault 4. Keep them AP 0 and shorter range, but increase their Rate of Fire.

So what's the story with Stalker-Pattern Intercessors? How have they been performing for you? I've been thinking of getting a 10 man squad and sitting back and shooting with the high AP weapons.

Please keep on topic. If you would like to discuss ways to fix Primaris units and weapons then make a thread dedicated to that.

Apologies, yes you're of course right :D

Back on topic, I think where we landed was that on Lts or Captains they're okay, but on Intercessors you'd be better off with always using the bolt rifle.

Personally I like the idea of Stalker Pattern Bolters and I imagine if they are using the Indomintus Crusaders rules they'd be quite effective alongside some Eliminators.

I agree, but the CP cost is pretty high. I long for increased CP so we can do some more of these things.
