Recommendations for new DG player

Hey all,

 

I’ve been playing CSM for the better part of 5 years, but after reading the new Dark Imperium novels, I’ve decided to get some DG units to fill out my Night Lords. I’ve already got a Lord of Contagion and 7 Plague Marines (PF, plasma gun, blight launcher), and want to add some more units.

 

I don’t play in any tournaments, so mostly will be looking for some fun/friendly games. Any suggestions on what to add next? I was thinking a Malignant Plaguecaster at the bare minimum.

Top tier units are Daemon Prince, Plague burst crawler and Foetid bloat Drone. Everything else doesn't perform for their point cost.

You'll have to decide for yourself how much you value fluff vs crunch. To answer your question in particular, you can get a bloat Drone for about $15 with spitters new from most bit sites that sell dark imperium fractured. Normally $50 new, get a couple while they last (I got three). At 1 Troop and 1 HQ you have alot of options open. What's your end goal pts wise for your deathguard?

Plague Caster is fun.

 

I run multiple squads of Death Guard, with buff Lord. Quite fun and hard to shift.

 

Drones are good. Sprayers version.

 

I have Plague Haulers, never killed anything with them. Cover is nice and they eat fire.

 

The elite with the super flamer has been a ball. He one shot an Ork fighter first game I used him.

 

The Terminators are sturdy too, hard to kill. Slow as heck though.
